Sorry but there's a higher chance in you winning the lottery than this category getting added... :P

It really is a cool twist and probably also a fun challenge but:

  • The only option to verify these runs would be using a handcam; as pretty much no one streams with hand cam, barely anyone would submit. And even with handcam I think it would be a pain to verify.
  • It doesn't change anything gameplay wise
  • "One handed" has a really vague definition

Should be seen as a challenge rather than a speedrun I guess (=

So like the same category except you can start your run without needing to delete your current streak if I understood correctly?

On the one hand: cool, would probably encourage more ppl (including myself) to run it as many ppl want to keep their streak. On the other hand it'd essentially be a split leaderboard for the exact same category which is ehh. I'd much rather have load adjust for mid-streak runs (so like add x.yz seconds ("New Game" -> "A" on first level) to mid-streak runs where the timer starts when pressing "A" on the first level)

Agree'd, this sounds especially fun as it doesn't require any resets (:

@PASRC there's no way to upload switchclips directly to YT and back when I did all of my runs I didn't have a Twitter. @linny356 I did that in most of my WRs, however, sometimes there aren't any intersections and sometimes clipping in intersections would force me to clip more often than I'd theoretically needed to.

Exactly what Killedragon said. Clipping 30 Secs videos via the switch recording feature and then recording them via phone as I don't own a capture card (:< Applies to all of my IL runs which are longer than 30 Secs [:

I've recently got quite a few ideas for categories, some already routed and tested, some just ideas.

One of them is a category I'd like to call "Spawn%". Basic rules: Beat the game as fast as possible while only collecting previously spawned Moons. "Spawned" is defined as in the Moon has to go through an Up-Down-Animation before you can collect it or you get the Moon by talking to certain NPCs. Storymoons are always valid.

Now, from what I've constructed in my head, there are quite a few routing options, however the basic route would be pretty close to the Any% route. Therefore, before I spend hours routing stuff just to get a rejection; @MODS do you think this category has a chance on getting added, even though it may be just a bit similar to Any%?

I'm just gonna assume you can also start by hitting the first treble clef?

  1. Thanks a lot for adding the category. I will do my first runs either today or tomorrow (already found most WR strats, I think).

  2. Once the first few runs were verified, is there a chance that the category will be moved out of Misc.? Idrk, but I don't think many people take a look into the Misc. categories... :/

  3. I agree with you that too arbitrary runs are unnecessary, however I think there's still a bit wasted potential for things like in-game games (e.g. Super Discord World 2). But for now I'm just happy that we have one not-rng based short category (;

Rules could be: Download the 6 Levels from the Nintendo US Official account (Maker ID: GC0-BJM-HBG). Timing starts as soon as you hit play on the first Level and ends as soon as you hit the axe on the sixth level. All Levels must be played in correct order, meaning: Round I, Round II, Finals I, Finals II, Finals III, Finals IV. You may wanna use your touchscreen in order to manouver faster in coursebot.

RTA timing is used. Two Player Mode is banned (or could be a seperate category, although I don't see a point in doing so). Video proof mandatory for Top 10.

In my opinion, it's kind of a bad thing that all full game runs are either heavily influenced by RNG (Endless) or last for at least like 1:40h (Storymode). So what about a shorter skill-based category including like 5-20 Levels? One of the first things that came to my mind when getting this idea: The SMM2 Invitational Levels.

In case you are unaware, it's a series of 6 Levels used on an event, shortly before SMM2 was released (I think). They are all uploaded on the official Nintendo US Maker account and their individual WRs sum up to roughly 2:32 Mins. Together with roughly 5*20 Seconds loading time (assuming you're playing in coursebot), you'd get a 4-5 Minutes speedrun, which I think would be a nice challenge (;

Furthermore it'd also be a nice reference to the SMM1 speedrun.com site, as there already is a pretty similar category called Nintendo World Championships 2015 Courses :D

Add a sub category for every 2^x levels PogChamp. Anyone up for 1024 levels SE race? Kappa

Generally like the idea, but we shouldn't have too many different lengths as we'll barely receive any runs/category that way.

F.e.: (Super) Expert: Short = 6. Long = 16. Normal/Easy: Short = 16. Long = 32.
