Erm, what?

Racing game speedruns are a big thing, I have no idea what you're on about Kacey XD They just have a community that's generally separate from the regular gaming community, but it's still a big thing.

To @Saturn185, Don't worry, fellow portuguese, I'll get some content on the leaderboards soon, starting with the Playstation version

The way it was done with Dragster (I was fortunate to have researched this recently) was trough a tool assisted speedrun. We can try to see if it's possible to do this for this game to see what's the minimum possible time.

Very happy to see a proper change and moderation on this game :D It's also great to see new and creative leaderboards for this game, it's a fantastic way to give it replayability and life.

I also wanted to add that I'm making an internship project for the evolution of racing and sim racing games, and this is included as one of the first games featuring Formula 1, so I'll be happy to contribute footage for it, as we'll probably will do some runs on the exposition to come.

Just as added context, the manual states that you race on a Grand Prix (the name given to the races run on Formula One): https://www.gamesdatabase.org/Media/SYSTEM/Atari_2600/Manual/formated/Pole_Position_-_1983_-_Atari.pdf

So don't say F1 has nothing to do with this game, that just shows you might not know what F1 even is. This is an F1 game, and it's widelly regarded as that.

"This is Pole Position. F1 isn't in the title and has nothing to do with the series."

I have to disagree as this is literally based on an F1 car, as it's stated on it's wikipedia page. https://www.wikiwand.com/en/Pole_Position Quote: "In this game, the player controls a Formula One race car..."

It's clearly a car from the 1980 era from it's design, most likely from 1982. Saying that this title has nothing to do with F1 is slightly offputting and (unfortunatly) ignorant of the sport.

Pole Position is literally a term that started to be used on F1 in the 50's, that came from horse racing.
