I was watching Panini's stream and I noticed that his game was loading 7 seconds on Atomic - Pacifist, I thought something was off so I looked at one of my records, and noticed it loaded in 10.8 seconds or something.
At first we thought it was a plugin issue, then we discovered that it was a VI Refresh rate issue.
VI Refresh rate doesn't exist on PJ64 1.6, but it does appear on PJ64 2.3 and later. As a community we need to discuss what to actually do with it. As of writing we are discussing it in the discord.
Edit: Instead of banning PJ64 2.3 and later, along with whatever other emulators have the ability to change VI Refresh. Thinking of just straight up banning the alterations of VI Refresh Rate, since it heavily effects load times. and we should be able to know when its been altered, especially since we could just compare runs.
Finally.... Where do I even begin?? As originally suggested by InfiniteVoid316. (https://www.speedrun.com/extreme-g-2/thread/hln8u - this is the original instance of a category split request so to speak) we now finally have a leaderboard split for "Standard" and "Pacifist" runs, no idea on when the "PC" and "N64" leaderboard split will happen, could be next month, could be never? I don't know.
If you notice any of your runs missing from the leaderboards, please let me know and I'll re-verify them as soon as I can, but most if not all series runs should be correctly placed on the new boards.
Updated the category rules a little too, so it now specifies between Standard and Pacifist
Been discussing with the Extreme-G Discord about a potential "Pacifist" category for a while now, problem is it'd get lost in conversations and we'd all just forget about it.
Now with that being said I will be adding it very shortly, the rules will be fairly strict but fair. While I am at it, I will be adding a "Duel" category since it hasn't been added yet and its only fair to add Duel since it is a single player mode within the game, and we run it in 100% so I don't really see an issue with adding it and submitting/verifying any runs that have been done within the 100% category.
All ILs have been updated to use In-Game Time, so every single time that has been submitted has been updated to the new format, this is to make XG2 ILs fall more in line with the rest of the Extreme-G games. InfiniteVoid suggested this a while back in one of his time submissions, but since there was only one XG2 mod there wasn't much that could be done.
Hello! My name is Mr.Blonde, while my profile says I have been on the site a year I am still fairly new within the 'speedrunning' community. I never got around to making my intro as I was always too busy but here I am today making my intro.
