@ejjustic75 it’s very subtle but this build has different mechanics. Play the version on the resources tab of this page if you want to submit to this leaderboard.
Alright, I’ll give in. I might as well finally respond to this thread even though I’ve already talked about this in the Discord server a while back.
My take on this is that if we added “Co-Op%” then would it just be World 3? Would it just be Any%? I feel like if this was added, then we would need to have a category for each world and for each category type, and at that point it’s basically useless because nobody will do a World 2 100% Co-Op% speedrun. And then if we added all these worlds it sounds a bit odd to have a separate category for just Co-Op, and it should just be added to the main world categories. But, of course, we can’t do that either because we already have a ton of subcategories already. Also, I don’t know if the individual levels have Co-Op, but if they do then that’s a whole other can of worms.
However, clearly the demand is very high. No matter what argument I make against it like how there’s not really any Co-Op specific strategies in the game, people will clearly still ask for it. I’ve also said this in the Discord about a year ago, but if anyone actually does a “World 3 Any% Co-Op%” speedrun, then I will add the category. I’m assuming that’s what the majority wants, but if we just have an empty category then I won’t be instating it to the leaderboard. Hopefully this is a fair compromise.
Oh you’re right it’s not in widescreen, my fault!
I will allow classic pack submissions for early access for now. But once the mechanics of the game start changing, these runs will definitely be rejected. You should run on the actual Flash version in the future just to be safe, because if any mechanical differences are discovered from this current version then the run will be removed.
They will be counted separately, because World 3 will supposedly have some more substantial changes in the final version. Considering nobody has done any speedruns for the main categories in early access yet, there definitely doesn’t seem to be any reason to add a time trial category right now.
You’re on V1.0 because you’re running the pirated version of the game. The forum post on this page with the version guide has further explanations.
The rule that says subtract 8 seconds is just an estimate, so the actual loadless time can vary. In this case the load times took 3 seconds longer than average. I just retimed this recently because this category has gotten competitive enough to warrant it.
The only way to start the game is by using the touchscreen, and unfortunately I don’t know what’s going on here. If you’re running Android on Windows 11 then it normally works at that point, but past that it doesn’t really work anyways since it has a few graphical glitches. Basically I think your best solution would be to use BlueStacks emulator instead found in the resources page.
Man this is a seriously impressive run, gg dude! I was in so much disbelief that my time was beaten by this much that I watched through the entire run with my eyes glued to the screen lmao
There’s literally a guide here on this leaderboard lol, check the guides tab
Yep you’re right, thanks! Maybe I should’ve been more clear when I told Ray how to make subcategories lol
I just found out today that a game called Tiny Wings+ released as an Apple Arcade exclusive less than a month ago. So in case anyone asks, the game is the exact same as the original from a base-level, and runs from that version will be allowed on this leaderboard. Although the details haven't been disclosed by the developer at all, there aren't any gameplay differences that I've noticed when playing, and it just seems to be the same game but on Apple Arcade instead. Seems like a bit of a pointless release, but at least we got some dope new artwork out of it.
IMPORTANT Twilight Menu is no longer banned and has been relegated to the new Emulator subcategories. This thread will now be locked.
It has come to the community’s attention that running this game on Twilight Menu, a mod used to run DS ROMs on a 3DS, is faster than running it off of an original cartridge due to the lack of lag. This means that from here on out, using this application will be banned from all speedruns. Subsequently, all current runs done on Twilight Menu have been rejected, and the world record for Any% has gone down from a 1:04:48 to a 1:07:36 as of writing this.
Unfortunately, we do not know why or how Twilight Menu is able to eliminate lag from the game, and we may never know. But the important thing is that using it is banned so that the game is being played as intended, and everyone is given a fair advantage.
Ok, so in that case I’ll have to make a separate category for full-game Android runs if you or somebody else beats the world record on iOS. It would be too much of a hassle to just standardize the rules between both platforms considering how drastic the differences are, so splitting the categories seems like the only logical thing we can do.
