sounds like a good procedure for this case.

I will only get one more try in for this mission today. Starting tomorrow i'm visiting a Settlers3-LAN, so i won't make any runs until next week.

So,

i've been playing the 8th mission of the egypt campaign on this day. 2 times the game crashed with an structured error between the 40 and 65 minute mark.

First time i was like "okay, can happen, many ships involved in this mission" so the risk is high that the game can crash - ships have a significant probability to cause errors for players in multiplayer as well. But when it happened again in the 2nd game i got really mad because at this point i wasted my whole evening for nothing.

Thats why i was wondering if we could allow using savegames in longer games to prevent this miserable experience. Something like "if you get an error, you may be allowed to continue from the latest savegame immediately after the game crashed".

Since everything is on video everyone can see that the error happened and that i continued playing with the latest save.

I don't know how many errors you guys encounter in campaigns. Maybe im just super unlucky today because the campaign missions are usually pretty stable compared to multiplayer games. But this particular mission is gonna last something between 90-150 minutes and has - as i said - a higher risk of crashing than most other missions.

I will give the mission another try tomorrow regardless of the result here. But what do you guys think?

@Tigger77: yes, same thing occours for me too. Looks really funny when i watch my VODs and i am idle for so long to then spam the first clicks to make up the time :D

Im also playing on the 1.60 Gold Edition

It does make a difference because as you guys may have noticed, the game does not check if you won the game at every time (tick), but only at certain moments. That is why on the first roman map, everyone, including me, always hits 1:23 even though you took the last tower at 1:21 already but the victory message doesnt show up. Tigger77's 1:20 is the checkpoint previous to that, and previous to that one is something at 1:16. So if you dont take the last tower in time, you will fall back on the next time-stamp. Which means me losing 3 seconds at the beginning should mean that i will always get a worse time than you guys. That said i am pretty sure, that the 1:16 on first roman mission for example will stand forever from now on and can only be tied, because i don't see that anyone could finish it roughly 3 seconds earlier because 1:15 and 1:14 probably would get delayed until 1:16 anyways.

So i have been dealing with a problem ever since i started doing this. When i start a game, i don't get the loading screen, but my screen goes black. Basically im in-game as soon as the music starts playing, but the screen will stay black for 2,5-3 seconds after that. Losing these 3 seconds makes it kind of pointless to keep speedrunning in the long run, especially now where every second counts on easy mode.

Has anybody experienced the same problem and has a solution for this?

I'm just wondering: where on this website is the rules setting anyway? Would be nice to know them before i continue posting results :D

Yeah sorry, didnt know it would make a difference when i did my run. I thought the difficulty level only affects AI behaviour later in the game but didnt expect that tower doors and enemy soldiers are less tanky (sth. like 11 hits vs 14 hits from swords on normal) or your soldiers get a hidden attack buff not displayed in your combat power and thats why they need less hits.
