I hear you, but that brings back the question, is that even happening? Is there some place where bad categories are being requested that I'm not aware of? I don't know if that's a real issue. I could be completely wrong though.
Also, in the past I have been called arrogant and elitist for wanting to be consulted on things that affect me, so it's nice to see that's no longer the case.
I think the new mods are all pragmatic enough to differentiate between a meme category request and a legitimate one This website is THE place for collecting speedrun achievements, and if someone wants their accomplishment included in our collective history, inclusion is better imo. I absolutely understand the concern, but the "2 or 3 runners" rule seems like a guard against something that has never actually happened with this game. Or maybe when speedrunning first got started there was a flood of categories that people wanted to have on here, but I mean when was the last time someone actually asked to add a category? We're not exactly overwhelmed with runners right now either, there's what, five people who submit runs for this game right now?
The deleted one was just poorly worded, and then I thought of a better way to phrase it and posted again. Which was also poorly worded at first.
My two cents, I super disagree with Data Org being put in Misc. The idea of having "it starts at the start of the game" is appealing for organization, but if some potential runner wanders into the boards looking for a category to run, I would want them to see Data Org right at the top next to Any% and All Worlds because it's one of the most popular and most loved
Those weren't reactions, they were ridicule. Straight up making fun of people for having a different opinion. You're right about one thing though, I absolutely should have expected it.
edit apparently i need to clarify, I meant the stuff on twitter was ridicule. Everything in this thread is good, this is where this stuff belongs. And I'm not saying like, oh you hurt my feelings, I'm just frustrated that we can't ever talk about this stuff without getting the mob involved

NO ONE is going to agree with this, but I think we should just ban CoR skip entirely and stop dealing with this NMS vs Regular crap. It's a neat trick but what's really the point of a gold crown category that doesn't do CoR and data org? "you cheated not only the game but yourself," etc. If you dont want to do those just do silver crown.
Most Worlds is a legitimately great category. We as a community still have a lot to work on for things like Scar, Hyena Chase, Solar Sailer, and Explosion strats in the late game. Beginner and Crit can probably get some use out of final form in SP2 and maybe TWTNW. AND the exp route changes with more worlds, I don't even know if that's polished yet. It's a big open frontier and the strats are so much fun to work on when you don't have to worry about 100AW and Atlantica.
All Superbosses is my ideal long-form category. Silver Crown sucks because of CoR skip, Silver Crown NMS is fastest with Terra+Mushrooms (which sucks), Gold Crown is arguably dumber than Silver Crown NMS because you're just wasting time doing CoR skip, Gold Crown NMS is good but for me, since I only play level 1, gearing up for mushrooms just isn't appealing. Plat and JJ are way too long... but All Superbosses... that's the Goldilocks solution, it's just right. The only BS is 100AW, Atlantica, and farming money for 99 ethers in the postgame, the rest is just fights and fights and fights and fights. And I love fights. It's Gold Crown NMS with mushrooms traded for Sephiroth, that's the best trade of all time.
So those are my votes. As always, I disagree with All ASS completely because the AS fights are trivial in the late game, and I think giving Bronze subcategories has its heart in the right place, but nobody's gonna do mushroom%, if you beat data org you probably wanna just go for all superbosses, and terra% could probably just be its own thing, which might be kinda cool if peter pan weren't so broken. Sucks you'd have to sit through the credits though...
I appreciate you taking the time to respond Crispy. One of your primary responses to Desa is "you should have contacted the person x directly" but from everything I've seen/read today it sounds like whenever he TRIES to talk to the mods about something, he is either ignored or gets weak non-answers or a "we'll look into it" or "we're discussing it" or something like that. At a certain point, calling people out is really the only option because nothing was getting done for the months Desa spent trying to "do it the right way." If he had brought one of those issues to you in private, you would have (totally honestly and with good intentions) said you'd talk about it with the other mods, and then it would have died when they didn't respond in discord.
Responding to Jel, "The mod team are looking at the stuff that Desa posted today and having discussions about it and how to move forward." Did they completely miss the entire thing about TRANSPARENCY? Why can't they have discussions on these forums like the rest of us? Why don't they respond publicly?

That's preeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetty bad. It's probably time for a shakeup with the kh2 mods. I'm sure I'll be accused of bias for saying this, but I think the best candidate to mod kh2 is BigSid. He knows every category inside and out, he probably already watches every run that gets submitted, and there isn't anyone in the community who helps new runners and answers questions as much as he does, not even close. Maybe there used to be, and I'm not insulting anyone who used to be super helpful, I'm just stating the fact that as of right now Sid is probably the best resource for running kh2. So if he wants that responsibility, he's the guy.
ALSO since it looks like the ps2 version of 2FM will be the final location post-merge, and it still has a Silver Crown category, please don't delete it this time -___-
Is this just Saiyanz's solo project right now? Is there like a timeline for this or anything? I'd be willing to do the 2fm merge myself just because it looks so messy right now.
Also I completely agree that different games shouldn't be combined, and 2fm is fundamentally different from 2.5, but it sounds like I'm too late to stop that merge from happening. And I completely DISAGREE about not adding a category "to satisfy 1 or 2 people." If someone is/was serious about running a category and wants it included in our collective history here, it should be included. "Oh they can still run it and put it on their youtube channels" Yeah but people come HERE looking for speedruns, this is where they should be.
