Grandia II and I'm thinking about picking up Grandia I, III, Xtreme (if those come to steam) and maybe Tales of Zestiria but that depends on if I get a grip on the fusion system.

I must actually say it depends on the computer if you'd choose bsnes higan or snes9x.

If your computer is decent enough just straight go for bsnes since it's more accurate. I mean, if it works it's fine. Why using something worse if you're capable of using something better that's legit? ^^ I thought myself first I shouldn't try bssnes at all since so many people were saying it's so hard to run it while streaming etc. I gave it a try and my cpu just goes up to 28% with it running.

I'd say people should give it a try if the requirements are met and if they like it use it and if it's to much for their pc just use snes9x instead. As long as it isn't banned for a game obviously.

My adventures stopped for now. I started to reroute Phantom Skills% but encountered a Problem with my new route. So I gonna take a break before I shred my brain to small pieces and gonna take a look in something different for the rest of the Month.

Next Month I'll reroute Phantom Skills% from the start on again and this'll start with a Wiki Page Ahramanyu and me are going to create with all the needed Information's for Speedrunning this game. As long as we can get our hands on the specific Information.

From the 21th on I'll stream Tales of Zestiria. On Release I'll go for a 20 hour stream playing normal Mode. I assume I'll finish it in one go. Afterwards I'll NG+ on Evil the next day in a 10 hour run and gonna farm if needed to reach the last difficulty. After I'm done with that one I'll maybe take a look into this game a bit deeper like 100% play through. While I'm revealing the last bits of Zestiria I'll route Phantom Skills passively since this rerouting will probably take at least the same amount of time if not twice as long as the raw route. Which took me a month. Reason for that is that I need to get all the data of the game first before I can start rerouting the game. List of stuff I need to get first: All Maps of the game All the Encounters of every Map, their Drops, Exp, SC, MC, Gold Values All the Boss Data Full Exp Table until Level 40 Full List of Animationt-Time of every Cast. Full List of DMG Values based on Boss + Skill + Skill Level In-Depth analyzing of DMG Values based on Base Stats and ATK Stat

The last Point will probably be the hardest one since the game seems to have a weird curve if it comes to Damage Values.

I assume if we get a really good route for Phantom Skills, this game is doable in 9:30h if not less. Using just Phantom Skills and no other glitches we might find.

So yeah... I'll have to do a lot before I can say I have a new finished route. ^^

Ok, then I'd say you can start it on two ways. You can either try to make a unoptimized route by yourself first to get to know the game even better, or you can watch a already routed speedrun of it, replay and learn it and decide then if you want to use that route as it is or if you want to change things.

If you want to route it out yourself first I'd say make a playthrough and note all the needed informations that can get you back on track if you get a blackout. Also make notes about things that you want to happen at specific moments. In an RPG that would be Boss XYZ at Level xx. For GTA that would be something like Reach spot XYZ at time xx as an example. This could make it easier for you to learn a game. It's a lot of work, but in the end you won't need that anymore because you remembered it completely.

If you don't want to learn the game by always running it from start to the finish line make different savefiles so that you can load them and learn the specific spot. One thing should be clear it needs to be a run equal save. So it would be good if it's a save of an actual run or if it would be a save of the routing.

Be patient. Speedrunning looks awesome and it is awesome but before you are getting really nice times you'll have to spend some time. It's like everything else someone wants to become good at. So even if your times are bad at the start, don't throw it away. Just stay on track.

Best regards, Jyntax

I'd say giving tips depends on which games or genres you're about to speedrun. But one thing's clear. You'll need to practice a lot if you want to optimize menus, jumps, etc.

I wouldn't even make that big of a deal out of it and think back to the first game you liked so much. Just take a look at games that you really enjoy lately. That's what I did with Grandia II. I came across it, I enjoyed it and I started speedrunning it.

For me the moment I think to much about possible games I don't feel comfy with it and don't wanna start playing anything from the beginning.

Hello everyone, I'm Jyntax and started to speedrun actively around one month ago. Currently I'm just speedrunning Grandia II and finished a run within 10:14.50 using the Phantom Skills Glitch. I'm routing Phantom Skills NG+ currently and gonna play Grandia I casually from tomorrow on. So far I enjoyed all the Grandia Titles so I might start playing all 4 of them soon.

I'm looking forward to meet a lot of people and I'm happy that I made the step to join the community of speedrunners. :)

Best regards, Jyntax.

I started speedrunning more or less because of the way I play games and because I enjoy watching speedruns. I already tried to skip parts of different games when I still was a child around 10 years old. Usually that I tried to jump across distances you're not ment to, or tried different other things. ^^
