Hey everyone!

We had a discussion in the Discord server about whether or not to allow controllers to be used for runs. Everyone who took part in the discussion agreed that there is no issue with controllers or other input devices being used, given that the device doesn't add any extra functionality.

As of right now, external input devices such as controllers will be allowed for runs.

If you disagree with this or have anything to add to this discussion, please let me know either in this thread or the Discord server, and we can revisit the issue!

I think it would be really cumbersome to calculate in game time, and in addition to being able to take breaks between levels, it would also allow for pause exploitation. It's unfortunate, but I think speedrunning any game requires someone to have a computer that can run the game smoothly. I just wish it wasn't a flash game so we could at least solve the lag more easily.

That being said, I'd be willing to take a vote on this if people like the idea.

I'm also interested to hear any other opinions on this. This isn't something I've ever thought about.

There was no good reason for it to ever have not been allowed. Allowing arcade mode does nothing but make the episode transitions less annoying. Sorry this rule was ever in place.

Please let me know if you have any concerns with this rule change either in this thread or the discord server.

I think 2 player mode would have to be a different category, since it allows for completely new techniques. If there's any interest, let me know and I can create the categories.

I only just discovered these forums, sorry. The run was valid, but you're right that the video stopped working. I removed the run and will restore it if I get a fixed video.
