I found an invisible ledge below the floor that is oob if you slowly walk off you will land on it. However, even with a running start, you are unable to clear the gap and fall withing an arms length of the floor. I am also unclear as to how to get oob in area 2. I did exactly what the post said up until you can walk along the archway. Thats where I got lost.
