agreed, a completely separate glitchess category is needed

Just for reference im pretty sure they patched some bugs for this patch that came out for unrestricted players.

  • Cursed Lands: The hole in the wall that blyte uses is no longer traversable although the other major skip in the first room is still there.

  • Ashes: There was a major bug I found that allowed you to kill the boss early but the path has also been blocked, he's killable but you can no longer exit the bugged area.

  • No idea about the other levels

you have crouch on scroll up or down then have you either hope for a perfect frame to jump or bind jump to the opposite scroll then you get multiple frames of both jump and crouch - the first jump out the window is patched now for reference

So I've found this new bug and been sitting on it for a while since I keep forgetting to actually make a tutorial but eitherway, here goes.

  • Video Here in case you want a TL;DR
  • As far as I know, this only works on the "Institute" level, at least this is the only level that it seems to be the best place to use it in.
  • You need to grab the large square-ish wooden box (found after picking up the pickaxe in the level)
  • When grabbed, set yourself up for a prop fly (E+Left-Click) and head towards the gate that is on the opposite side of the way that you're supposed to go (towards brent and the chemical collecting)
  • Make sure to be facing the actual doorway you're supposed to go through when lining up for the trick
  • You're going to want to bring the crate towards your character as you hold your backwards movement button (Default: S)
  • Look up and as you look down, spam your "Rotate Object" keybind (Default: R) in an almost swing like fashion.
  • If done correctly you should just clip through the wall onto the other side, near the end of the level, all that's needed after that is a prop fly up to the appropriate side and continue through, saving around 1m 30s roughly

Notes:

I am pretty sure this may only work if you have your rotate object keybind on your scroll wheel like I do

Also it's very tempermental, but if you can pull it off in a run then it can save a fair amount.

that was an amazing run, you kinda got fucked over by load screens there tbh, you would've been around 19:20 if it loaded quicker but still good stuff man

no worries fam, glad to have someone run the game again!

Yo, so Son1x asked me for a guide for the any% run so here goes:

Start of the game: After you wake up you're going to want to grab the chair from the room you wake up in and take it with you downstairs and outside near the main building you head towards as part of the story. Whilst still outside you're going to perform a Prop Fly, you perform this by grabbing an item that you can collide with (in this case the chair you took) and whilst holding it, you'll want to use your "Throw Object" keybind (Default: L-Click) and your "Action" keybind (Default: E) on pretty much the same frame/at the same time.

If done correctly you will have the item in your hand but will be colliding with the item as you try to walk along. From here you'll want to look down and crouch, after that use your "Rotate Object" keybind (Default: R) I highly recommend putting it on your scroll wheel as sometimes it won't work first time, with scroll wheel it'll allow for a single activation per knotch of your scroll wheel. From there you should be floating up ontop of the prop. Make your way all the way up towards the teleporter that sends you to the next level.

NOTES:

  • To control the prop once you're on it all you need to really do is walk ever so slightly on it, you can do this whilst crouched or stood up
  • When you stand up on the prop fly, you will go significantly faster up but it is harder to control so I recommend staying crouched till you're used to it.

Institute: Honestly on this level, there's not a lot of time we can save. I'm trying to find new ways myself of breaking this level since it's the only level that I feel we can do something on. There is a small time save at the start if ESC is spammed pretty much which skips a small part of the intro cutscene (saves around 5 seconds)

Old Streets: From the door head left on the floor will be an ammo crate, grab it, it's the closest box to the entrance (RIP box next to the bike before patch 1.2) go towards the water and jump in BUT hug the wall, if done correctly you should phase through the wall, that's good. Now head towards the end of the level pretty much, you'll figure out your own route but go very careful, there are a couple of killboxes near the water parts, if you're still holding the crate whilst in a killbox it WILL brick your game till you reset so be ready to reset if you're testing a route. If in doubt you can always watch my run to watch a route that is possible. (NOTE: My run was downpatched to patch 1.1, the box that I use will NOT be in patch 1.2/1.3). As for how to get up to the train tracks, perform another prop fly with the ammo crate but with the ammo crate you can't really just crouch and put it below you, you'll have to look down and jump onto the crate itself, it'll take a couple jumps to get right but once it's done, it's the same as before, just control it and make your way up into the loading screen.

Canal: This one is pretty simple, just grab the ammo crate from the bit below the starting area, perform another prop fly with the ammo crate up to the lever that opens the gate and get back onto the train onto the next level.

NOTE: In my run I take a different approach to the train ride, I get off the train after a certain part by setting up a prop fly that allows the player to phase through the train and then I proceed to fly to the exit since it is slightly faster than using the train itself.

Forest/Chapel: Nothing can really be done here to save time I don't think. Maybe a prop fly over the bushes but idk how high their bounding boxes are and idk if it'd be faster but I encourage you to break the game more! :)

Thank you for taking the time to read, best of luck in your runs and here's to breaking the game more!

yeah I downpatched the game just for the quicker load times and just to try and secure the sub 20

sorry for the late reply, been away from speedrun for a while,if you're still wanting to know, it's as simple as blocking and using the jetpack at the same time, each jump is a little bit of height added, but as far as I know can be deadly if too high, you can input roll+block for a small window of i-frames though.

The way to perform this is by doing these steps:

  • As the energy orb in the dungeon is destroyed perform a quicksave (F1)
  • Directly after the quicksave, do a quickload (F2)
  • If performed correctly, the counter for the dungeons will have gone up but as you load in, you will still have to destroy the orb once again.
  • To keep doing this you need to keep quicksaving and quickloading as the orb is destroyed otherwise the counter will not increase.
Hampshire, EnglandFoxxert2 years ago

yeah it does, doesn't help where I don't think we can skip them as you start immediately in one as a level transitions, might see if I can somehow get a supply box into the library or something through the level for next run

So I found 1 or 2 ways of getting out of bounds on areas, pretty simple really but managed to find these things and wondered why they were placed there tbh

Whale in Tutorial: (you can see this from the window normally but can't see it fully from the front)

Out of Bounds Room: (Looks to be a copy of the room you wake up in but might just be used for the cutscene or smth? idk)

Unused Rooms in Tutorial: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/821721733496569909/938423218497265664/20220202110809_1.jpg (idk what's up with these, they have collision on all walls but not the roof)

I'm presuming the areas and room I found are just placeholders for something but still cool looking outside the map :)

Edit: Also the twitch clips are muted cause of music :)

I see where I went wrong, I wasn't going from the top part of the slope, I knew of that little area but thought it wasn't possible but I guess I was wrong, well done on finding out it was possible though! wp fam

okook I know last time as soon as I said sub 30 I managed to find couch skip but this one is legit, wondering how long it's gunna take us to take it below that 25 minute mark, there's damn bound to be somewhere we can't find a skip in

hm...I think i've managed to find at least a little save getting down to the train area, not huge only like 5-6 seconds at a guess but we'll have to see I guess, something may pop up somewhen but best of luck with future runs and thank you for giving me a reason to keep getting better haha
