Hello, running on switch is doable, but running on pc is much better since you can use modded celeste to have save states in game and so you would be able to practice much more efficiently.
For the controller I would suggest using one with a good Dpad, I like Ps3/4 controllers but other players play with all sort of them.
For general advices:
1) remove screen shake
2) map your controls in a confortable way.  You want a second jump button and a crouch dash button in addition to normal jump grab and dash, and in general you want to be able to press any combination of those buttons confortably.

So the awake s&q in 2A and 5B mirror s&q are still allowed in ILs runs if I understood this correctly, just want to be positive.

Celeste

the following rule has been added to the __IL Rules__ on all Celeste speedrun.com leaderboards:

"Save and Quits to replace retries or screen transition badeline throws are banned."

no changes have been made to fullgame rules.

this ban was made specifically to prevent high level ILs from turning into s+q spam (notably in summit and arb ILs), and is therefore not a blanket s+q ban. while many All Chapters/Full Clear ILs will still have two optimal save and quits (heart+cassette), this was deemed to be not as intrusive as doing a save and quit on most badeline throws in 7a.

since far fewer s+q's save time in fullgame, the issues mentioned above do not apply there. for example, a 100% run doing every noteworthy save and quit would only be doing approximately 5. as such, we chose to leave fullgame alone. this allows runners more freedom to s+q for nerves, tilt, or IRL RNG as needed.

references to s+q's saving chapter time or file time were avoided in making this ban because exhaustively defining which save and quits are faster by each of those metrics is very difficult, and subject to change with strat developments. instead, we categorized them by function, and elected to not ban wakeup, blue heart, and cassette save and quits. these save and quits are being allowed because of similar reasoning to the lack of a fullgame ban: the frequency with which they show up is low, and therefore not as intrusive to high level IL attempts.
