Ah right, I forgot to explain that.

UV Speed - Complete the game as fast as possible on the 4th difficulty (Extreme Ooze)

UV Max - Get 100% flemoids and 100% secrets on every level as fast as possible on Extreme Ooze.

NM Speed - Complete the game as fast as possible on the 5th difficulty (Super Slimey)

NM 100 - Complete the game as fast as possible while obtaining 100% secrets on Super Slimey.

Tyson - Complete the game as fast as possible while zorching 100% flemoids, using ONLY the mini zorcher, or melee weapons. Doesn't specify the difficulty, but I'd assume Extreme Ooze is recommended.

No Monsters - Complete the game as fast as possible, but without monsters. Difficulty does not matter, it's all the same.

UV Fast - Complete the game as fast as possible on Extreme Ooze with fast monsters enabled.

UV Respawn - Complete the game as fast as possible on Extreme Ooze with respawning monsters enabled.

Hope this helps!

I believe if you speedrun the first two episodes with the Chex Quest 3 file using GZDoom, then the categories would specifically be Chex Quest 1 GZ, Chex Quest 2 GZ, and Chex Quest 3. The first two episodes are different with CQ3, compared to the original versions (1996), so you'll have to specify the version that you are using is CQ3.

ZDoom goes with the GZDoom category, so it would be perfectly okay to speedrun with ZDoom. ZDoom and GZDoom have their own separate category because the physics are very different from the other source ports which is what I've been told. If you look at the GZDoom category for speedruns, you'll see that some players have indeed used ZDoom as their source port.

I'll pass. I'm too lazy to get Crispy Doom working properly.

Wait, I was scammed! Either the recording quality or GZDoom being GZDoom made the time in E1M3 change to 1:23 before it reached 1000 ms, so the time I got in E1M3 is actually 1:22.896 rather than 1:23.896. So my in-game time should actually be 3:34.416.

Because I am me, I am usually less satisfied unless I get to see the exact time of a speedrun, by listing the time in milliseconds. Do the in-game timers list the time in milliseconds, because then you could add them up to determine the true time of your run. Plot twist, I found out that my 3:34 run is actually 3:35.416 for in game time. according to the math where I add all IL times by looking at the very last frame of the level before the exit switch. Real time would be 3:43.028. I'd like my times to get changed to those maybe. The way I am, I'm just a super technical guy, so you get to hear me whine about not seeing the milliseconds in runs. It'd be cool to see, but may be hard or tedious to find out.

Extra Info : 35 frames in a second in the Doom Engine, so 1 frame would be 0.028 seconds, yadda yadda yadda just take 1, divide by 35 multiply by whatever many frames, you get the point.

I think I may have seen the old version of CQ3 in the past, so this does sound familiar to me. I'd say if the old version were to be speedrunned, it'd either be invalid or in a different speedrun category.

According to testing CQ3 on No-Mo, you cannot pass E3M3 because the Flembomination doesn't exist. When you get to the final room, the door is closed and the exit is inaccessible. Same goes with E3M5 and Lord Snotfolus. You get stuck forever.

0 seconds isn't possible in GZDoom. The best I've ever gotten in my thousands of attempts was 1.2 seconds. In GZDoom you fly off the obstacle on E1M1, but on PRBoom you keep going in the same direction.

PRBoom and GZDoom seem to be different with the collision on E1M1. I overlooked this, though isn't 0 seconds only possible with TAS or not? I also overlooked the demo being recorded with PRBoom.

So today I was doing some experimenting on what was the perfect speedrun for Chex Quest 1 with and without monsters. I did the entire first episode on No-Monsters, Non-SS with minimum clippage (Not TAS).

Difference between No-M and UV-speed. E1M1 : Nothing E1M2 : Door at teleport can rarely open by enemy. -1 seconds. E1M3 : 3 doors have possibility of opening. -3 sec. +3 for shootery in map. 0 overall. E1M4 : 1 door can open rarely. -1 seconds. -1 overall E1M5 +1 second for Flembrane. +1 for monsters in the way. +2 overall.

Times No-M: E1M1 0:01 E1M2 0:55 E1M3 1:21 E1M4 0:50 E1M5 0:20 Overall No-M 3:30 (includes extra frames after number in experiment run)

Times UV-S: E1M1 0:01 E1M2 0:54 E1M3 1:21 E1M4 0:49 E1M5 0:22 Overall UV-S 3:30 (includes extra frames after number in experiment run).

The most perfect UV-Speed run that we can expect is 3:30. Any run lower would be extremely close to impossible in movement and luck combined. Much lower and it definetely means TAS. The TAS run for CQ1 is 3:08. Though that is actually the perfect run, the perfect run (that we can expect) for human skill is 3:30. Thanks for reading.
