Bretagne, FranceI think you can. The rules applying are basically the same as the other NG+, i.e. :
- Start Timer when you accept the first quest of the part, and stop when you return the final quest of the part.
- In Solo Category, you must do the run solo, if anyone join you to form a party, it will invalidate the run.
- The run must be done as single segment.
- The time taken in account is RTA.
- If Coop Category, every runner has to submit a PoV of the run.
Should we also create a "FFXIV Speedrun-Only" Discord server ? Nahz's ideas are good but limited by the DC System. We could promote speedrunning and this Discord via FFXIV blog/forums too, to extend said ideas For example, I know we are at least 3 on Phoenix (Light DC) : Phil, Luna and myself, but to communicate with American and Japanese DC the ways are quite limited
This said, on Sync categories the round-up second isn't always applied which is a minor problem. Minor because if all runs in those categories are timed with the "no round-up" it's right
Sync Solo means you tag in an instance alone but you're grouped with random players. In fact it's the usual "tag in duty finder" ! For the time, the reference is the instance's timer (either 60, 90 or 120 minutes at the beginning), calculated when the boss dies. Normally, you do [Start Time] minus [Time Left], and you add 1 second. Let's say you did a 4-players dungeon, finishing with 74:48 time left. 90:00-74:48 = 15:12, but in fact it's 15:12:xx and the game (when timer is shown on a solo unsync run for example) rounds up, so your final time would be 15:13
We could do some races, between two pairs of players (or a 1v1) on a dungeon marathon or in the PotD. I have also an idea with doing a 1v1 race but with only one random job, chosen before the beginning. Like, we take, let's say, 5 random dungeons, 1 random job and race time (but it's not "true speedrunning" i guess).
But there are just ideas, so they can't be all good ones
I wish to try a full ARR dungeons run, buut I was wondering : can individual dungeon times in this run be submitted for a "level run" ?
Every class has its advantages. As CNJ/WHM not only you queue fast but I think you can completely ignore job quests up to a certain point (or doing some while queuing for Meridianum/Praeto), and getting to them when you get access to flying. Plus, with the 5.3, getting Ironworks gear is easier The downside though is, in dungeon, if you come across an "explorer" tank (notably on Stone Vigil and Haukke Manor, maybe Toto-Rak) you might be frustrated. Being a tank ensures that you won't lose any time exploring at least.
For the Grand Company, I'd say Adders is better, just because the post-GC main quest will get you to Gridania, thus you can take your chocobo while you're there.
Hello there ! I am Daizaku, a 25 y/o French FFXIV player, and I began speedrunning on Final Fantasy XIV, one of (if not the) my favorite games of all time ! I am currently on Light Data Center, server Phoenix.
I started speedrunning casually and a little by accident, doing one dungeon only. Then I learnt that FFXIV had a speedrun community, and I wish to spend time to speedrun/help players in there.
My work taking me a lot of time, I don't have much to speedrun but I hope someday I'll be able to get one or two WR. Currently I play in solo categories because I have noone to share those runs with, but maybe someday I'll get a little reputation here.
My final goal is to promote speedrunning in FFXIV and to run with/against some top players including aswmPhil and mod MatthiaGryffine !
