Even if it weren't on emulator TwinGalaxies would find a way to defend Todd.
Congrats to Omni on the score. It's awesome to see all the research pay off.
I'm hoping to adopt this strategy to attempt 5.57 myself now.
The 5.51 dispute has been ongoing for 35 years, and has now reached its pinnacle. This is due to a myriad of reasons, but primarily because of a number of viral YouTube videos which revived the interest in this game and the Todd Roger's dispute.
Omnigamer has since published a slew of data, and spreadsheet that suggests 5.57 is the best possible time. This means the dispute threads at TwinGalaxies are heated to the max, and thus an explosion of popularity and aura surrounds the game currently.
Like most Atari games, it's a simple game that is difficult to master.
There is no one correct way to play.
This happens if your tach is in the red, and engine is about to be "blown."
You need to shift gears at the right time in order to achieve this effect. However, it doesn't always make you faster, so feel free to experiment.
Thanks Rantron.
I will gladly try for a sub 7:10 run without any use of turbo once fair competition comes along..
Your speed is beyond what is capable without a turbo setting on your controller or emulator. My run was deleted for the same exact reason, and so I'm requesting that your run be removed too. Repost one without the turbo setting.
Pausing to skip SFX is not against the rules, but turbo is.
If you're going to remove turbo submissions please remove them all.
The current WR is clearly using turbo: http://www.speedrun.com/run/zn81k0vz
If this run stays then my previous run should stay too.
I'd like to see the Steam/PC version of the original Dragon's Lair added to this series. The sequel "Dragon's Lair 2: Time Warp" is also available on Steam/PC.
These versions with Don Bluth's original animation are definitive, and would make great speedruns in my opinion.
I would gladly submit a run for the PC release.
