The 2DS has the same hardware as the original 3DS/3DS XL (no new3DS), so you would categorise your runs on there. Otherwise there are no differences.

You can do runs on the NTR category by using a softmodded 3DS and following the settings shown in the Rules section.

Alternatively you can run the game on a PC with the Citra emulator and capture the gameplay from it with a simple OBS game capture.

They're both in the same leaderboard because they're not considered original, unmodified hardware, which can only be accomplished with a hardmodded 3DS with video capture.

I will upload my OR notes after I get home in a couple days. They're rough so maybe I'll take some time to clean them but otherwise shouldn't take too long.

My apologies for being so late!

Aw that sucks. Might still do runs regardless, thanks for the video, I'll look at it! Running Pokemon is a brutal process so I just wanted some pressure relief, even if it's just doing fun runs.

Thanks for the answer guys.

In route 116 between picking up the Repel and Rusturf Tunnel you have to optimize your movement when going across the grass patch. Go diagonally crossing between the clear patches. Using the D-Pad in that segment helps a lot. Movement should be something like this:

You can still get encounters but the chances are reduced quite a lot.

As for detailed notes, there's a very complete and optimized route for Alpha Sapphire in the PSR forums. If you're playing Omega Ruby, send me a PM on Twitch and I'll give you mine.

Hello guys, I do speedruns of Pokemon games on the 3DS but I wanted a change of pace, so I recently got LADX for the 3DS VC and seeing runs of Any% no WW/OOB piqued my interest for speedrunning the game. So I wanted to ask if there are any differences between the JP VC version (my console is JP and the VC ROM is Japanese too) and the JP ROM used in emulator runs that are the most popular option for speedrunning this game.
