You can't automatically take out load times for console versions, and doing it manually and accurately is tedious.

Wisconsin, USAAsh_Marks5 years ago

Yes, the consumables last between dungeons. That and the Infinite Gil Glitch, which I know is difficult to TAS due to needing two emulators, make NTSC-J the fastest version.

A lot of STR artifact translations are found in this chart, but it shouldn't be too hard for someone to translate the MAG artifacts. https://www.speedrun.com/ffcc/guide/qrie3

Bonus Point conditions theoretically shouldn't be hard either.

Watch the current WR run by Otonyshi, he explains a bunch of stuff about the glitches. Also the thread here https://www.speedrun.com/Chulip/thread/blm4m has some explanations on the glitches found recently.

I've thought about allowing it. Sadly you can't remap the binds. If you try, it just keeps them mapped to F5 and F8/9 (can't remember which).

EDIT: Nevermind, thought this was CT for a second lol. I don't own PT so I don't know if they're rebindable, I'd assume they are since it's the same engine as SC1.

I'd like to hear other's opinions as well.

It's only slower for any% IGG because of switching between single and multiplayer, as well as the map screen adding a weird stutter effect which basically halves your movement speed. You're able to fix this by never having the map open, which loses time. Other than that, the game runs pretty smoothly, only lag I noticed was the waterfall in River Belle Pass' boss room.

I tested this 2 years ago though, before I got my new GPU, so I don't know if the lag would be different for me now, but it was really slow connecting the GBA emu to Dolphin.

I can't speak for any% no IGG.

Wisconsin, USAAsh_Marks6 years ago

On top of this, the lag for any% is really bad because of having to run a GBA emulator linked to Dolphin, mainly because of the map page on the gba. You can get rid of a lot of the lag by not having the map up, but that adds time to the run, and then you can't see your stats in real time.

On top of EVEN THAT, switching from multiplayer to singleplayer with the GBA emulator + resetting the "console" isn't perfect either, there's some other issues.

This only applies to any% with IGG, but it's still notable. Emu runs would be significantly slower, currently.

There isn't any significant difference, but there is slightly better load times, and less chance of disk read errors on Wii. It's recommended you use Wii.

They're both put on the same leaderboards, most of us run on Wii.

Quicksaving and Quickloading is now allowed, most other PC games allow it as well including many other unreal engine games. I think it makes sense to allow it since the options for binding it are in the controls settings menu.

As per quite a few people's request, I've updated this leaderboard as well as Chaos Theory's so Coty's segmented runs aren't considered "WR". I never personally considered them world record to begin with, but I kept them on the main categories because they're a useful tool for new runners to watch and learn from. Since we have a few runs now, they've been moved to a seperate segmented "category".

You have to fill those three plants to get to the boss door. You can't get away with less.

For Master's Weapon scroll, if you don't get it first try, just complete Goblin Wall then once you're spit out to the overworld just go back in and keep trying for it, leaving after getting the chest every attempt.

I also have the japanese iso, and it's pretty cool to mess around with, but the GBA Link Cable functionality is really laggy if you leave the map up in VBA.

Lemme know if you have any other questions :D

That's a bit of a rude, childish thing to say, don't you think?

Filter > Segmentation > RTA / SS

WR doesn't even matter because nothing in life matters.

Please feel free to learn the run if you want :)
