@Wixirix the game runs at different speeds based on hardware, but that's not the issue here. I still think it's slightly iffy that you can run the game at such a slow speed compared to my normal state, and still be able to compete. Nobody would allow slowdown in super mario bros (if it was run by IGT), for example. Imagine a fighting game where 1 player can fight another person at 80% speed. That'd be ridiculously broken lol but technically this is not the biggest fault.
The error lies in that the timing doesn't seem to be accurate with slowdown -- I really don't know which way the cookie crumbles. What I do seem to find is that a faster PC doesn't seem to have an advantage in IGT: Most runs that I've concluded as -should've been slower- were "slow" RTA times, and that's not just because the game runs slower.
I've noticed that pushes at low speed seem to be a major key. We could compare a "normal RTA" pushless run to a "laggy RTA" pushless run, and see if the difference lies within the cutscenes or not.
Made a discord so we can discuss things there
Honestly I've had this feeling as soon as I started playing this game, but I feel like the in game timer is off -- and I will prove it.
After watching F1s run I don't see any reason to believe that that boost in the 2nd lap's tunnel was good enough to save 1.7s over me, even after many mistakes during the run. He slows down at the quick U-turn twice, which is at least a second per lap. His ending section is as tragic as my old run, if not worse. He goes wide many times and has bad bridge turns. So. Would that lap 2 tunnel - wide ending - bumps - bad u-turns - bad bridges = a 1.7s timesave? I very much doubt it.
But if that wasn't enough: Here's a true doubter for you guys. I've commentated a comparison video comparing my (current) PB, this next video, and F1s vid, but I cba rendering that and uploading it at 5 AM.
3:28.8 igt run.
Looks like shit got a lucky ass boost at the end but
This was played in very shitty laggy conditions. Then sped up in a video editor to have it be close to the original speed. As you can see, the cutscenes are ridiculously fast. I even crash in the last section. Yet it's still 6 seconds faster. If anyone truly dares to tell me that the rate of playing the game doesn't matter now, you'd be clueless. IGT is skewed. I'll post the comparison vid tomorrow.
loooool yeah that doesn't seem right unless we can replicate it
was it just a normal run? and is there a video? Honestly I've been having my doubts with the IGT system for a while now, but this is really strange
I got refered to this thread, so I'll link my thread there: https://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/25cdl/1#ovrig
In short: I think it'll be a good idea to be able to sticky/pin/sort the runs on your profile. I run a bunch of games I don't take seriously, but mainly want to be profiled as an MKDD runner, but because of infrequent PRs, those runs are dropping down on my profile. I'd love to be able to pin them to the top of my profile so I don't need to worry about that :)
This sort of thing gets request all the time, but i totally agree, i run alot of games and i want to sort the games i care about at the top and ones i dont really like at the bottom
Lol ye I reckoned I'm not the first one to ask this, did a quick skim of the threads on the forum and didn't see it so I thought might as well
I didn't even originally think about being able to fully sort your page -- That'd also be a good idea. Though personally as long as I can put one game at the top I'd be happy already ;d
I'm mainly a Mario Kart Double Dash runner, but I occasionally venture out into other (meme) games. The problem with this is that MKDD (because of its low frequency in recordsetting) slowly sinks towards the bottom of my profile page, where as the meme games are at the top. I'd love to have a sticky function or pin function where I can put my favorite/pinned/sticky game to be at the top of my profile.
i did not record my RTA as i drove the races. So that would then mean i cant submit the run as i understood correctly?
no, i literally said
RTA is mandatory to submit
The RTA is to make sure that you did not take a break during the run.
If you timed your Real Time spent on the cup, you're free to submit either a picture of the results screen (as in showing the IGTs) or showing the cup in the records section.
Keep in mind, that IGT is not the same as RTA. RTA is mandatory to submit, along with your IGT.
Shadowdrax and Drax26 are now removed from the leaderboard.
Reason: Submitting (a) fake time(s), multi accounting.
If you are drax, you'll need to come with concrete proof of your claimed time's skill level to be allowed back on the leaderboard.
It'd be because they wouldn't have a clear IGT, thus we can't simply guess one, thus it moves to the bottom.
Emu is totally fine, though obviously people have a natural preference to get more "legit" runs in the top 10. Generally though, it's completely allowed.
To ensure people don't take breaks during the run and to add an extra level of verification to the runs, we have to require and sort by RTA.
Ah yes I too like to introduce myself to the community asking for mod I've heard it works every time and definitely would be a great upgrade to the mod team
Just use bananasplit for splits, check resources so no, it's not allowed
I love how the only thing you can do is actually continue the conversation when you say you don't want to, then project your own age onto me
Your thread is useless as the information's out there. If everyone were to make a separate thread, this forum would be filled with people constantly asking the same questions.
I was literally just asking what the best kart is, that's not irrelevant.
And the information was already out there, simply achieved by either looking at the guides, the forum, the WRs, or any run in general.
