Would an emulator run be acceptable? For example on a raspberry pi with a ps4 style game controller? Would a MAME arcade cabinet with arcade controls be acceptable?

mame runs are acceptable.

most people use a variant called mametgm and usually use a keyboard as their preferred controller but if a raspi can handle tgm1 then you should be fine
