Thanks for posting some guides to help new players pick up the game. I would like to see a succinct version differences guide posted on here to clarify the differences if I had any requests, maybe someone else knows the differences better. Congrats on all your runs, impressive work |

I am somewhat aware because I have a friend mo_moe that tells me of the difference I just think it's one of the things that the forums/guides are missing to help new players to just click and get instant answers. I will tell someone who has been bugging me to make tutorials for this game about your guides 🙂 |

As a two decade old veteran of the N64 version, here are some of the main differences not mentioned already about the N64 version. 1. Music only plays during the final lap of the race. |

I’ve seen this in many speedruns of courses. It’s like a boost start. How does one do that? Not to mention slides. I don’t use them, since I just found out about them. What effect do they have on speed? I’m wanting to take speedrunning this game seriously. So any extra info would help. |

This "boost start" also works in the N64 and Dreamcast versions of the game too, and you get it the same way as on the PC in pressing the accelerator just as the 1 disappears. The Accelerator button in the N64's case is the A button, and if you are using an original Nintendo made N64 controller, it is the big blue button on the controller. When it comes to sliding, you will be using it most of the time speedrunning because it helps retain momentum while turning, and especially when boosting as your turning ability drops sharply in boost. |

Regarding boost starts, by default the PC version maps thrust to ENTER. If you remove that mapping you can then use ENTER to skip cinematics and still get the boost start. |

The DC version also only allows 3 characters for a save file. The only other difference I recall is that I feel like the draw distance is longer on DC than PC, even with the PC draw distance being set to 3, but I have not confirmed this yet. |
