With the new ability to loop after a successful run, I have found a way of skipping some waves. You can see it in action here
If you kill the enemies as they spawn quick enough, the game seems to get confused and will sometimes skip waves. I have found a lot of success using orbs but I can't see why it wouldn't work with other builds.
EDIT - Please ignore the pb showing in the corner, I must have messed up my splits somewhere because my pb is not that good.
Thats something ive noticed myself, its quite easy to do in later stages of the run.
From my understanding the enemys spawn is dependant on whether or not the previous wave of enemys is dead yet (in the skip circumstances) and so, you can kill that first wave fast enough to avoid the "reinforcements" ever spawning
