While I was messing around with the game, this happened.
If there is a specific set of inputs you can do to replicate this, I think it is possible to make a new category. Inside D%, maybe? The rules could be something like... when any bit of the ball goes inside the D, the time ends. If that becomes the case, my full run would be a a 3:46. I have the full run, so if Inside D% category is created, I can provide the first run.
Just Make sure not to use this glitch in don’t phase into the walls. Side note if this can be used in don’t phase into the walls then that would make an interesting speedrun category. As for making D% a category, it would be too close to 50 levels.
@JumboSheep ok, no d% then. the thing is, I don't know the inputs on how to do it. I just got lucky. I've never encountered this glitch before. it might just be on this level. but if inputs are found, I would love to do a phase%.
@JumboSheep Side note, how about adding an extra category (inside d%) in level 48? then you wouldn't have to run the first 47 levels, so it wouldn't be too close to 50 levels. about don’t phase into the walls, could you run a TAS or something like that to find the inputs and see if it's possible on that level??
Yeah ok, I’ll add d%. As for the tas I can try using turbo warp although it may work better at normal speed
@JumboSheep Thanks for adding it! I feel like I've made infinity platformer history. the thing is, I think phasing only works in places with two walls close together, and an empty space on one side to warp to. (sorry if my explanation was bad.) I've tried every way to do it in DPITW (don’t phase into the walls) with no avail. I think the TAS sounds great, wonder how many PPLs (phase-possible levels) it will find. also, I found out that level 51 is a PPL. need to add g% then.
@JumboSheep Has any more PPLs been found? I found another PPL in the form of level 59. this is an interesting phase, as it's the only one that has 100% accuracy if you follow the precise steps. the other two are pretty inconsistent at best. what you have to do is change your skin and start off as the white ball, wedge yourself between the first o and the wall, change your skin again to the green ball, and press the up and right arrow (or W and D) at the same time, and boom, a phase that always works and never fails. also, I have a level run that hasn't been verified for 6 days, and I hope it gets verified soon. my level run: https://www.speedrun.com/Infinity_Platformer/runs/m3jdp16z
my level 59 phase:
Yeah the level verification queue is very backed up because someone submitted 100 levels speedruns
Hello! I'm the developer of Infinity Platformer. It's pretty cool that this game has a speedrun.com page. If you have any suggestions or find any bugs, please let me know via my Scratch profile comments.
There is an existing bug where the player hits a platform that is at a certain angle, and is able to phase through the wall if they hold down their movement keys. It also occurs when you walk into narrow gaps like in the beginning of the "G" level.
Hello, Tech_Voyager! it's great to talk to you! Infinity Platformer is definitely my favorite web game ever! about the phases, I did try to comment on your game multiple times, but the instructions were too confusing. can you leave the bug where it is? I'm pretty sure the phase% will be a very intresting category. in the end its your decision, and I will respect it either way.
I am leaving the bug as-is, it will be a pain to fix anyways... Just curious, how were the instructions confusing?
@Tech_Voyager When I look up ”how to comment on a scratch project”, it just tells about what comments are and their limitations and rules but it doesn’t tell you a single bit about how to post one! Maybe it’s just me being thick, but I don’t want to make rash decisions like creating accounts and stuff like that… it’s good I know how to comment here, though! Also, @JumboSheep I saw my run got verified, but was it really 3:49 down to the millisecond? If it is, that’s pretty amazing. :)
@JumboSheep How does better speed run timer work? I'm thinking of doing a couple of IL runs like Act did. what is the easiest way to retime my runs? Or is it easier for me to just say my IL run was 2 seconds or something and you'll do the retime? I hope the Phase% on level d, g, and o will be made soon, but I guess you were very busy verifying Act's ILs. ;)
@NoiceGood you can just put like 2 seconds or something because I have to time it either way, for the phase% I’m just not sure what to do for timing, (If the time starts on the first frame you start to phase into the wall you could just slightly phase into it which would be significantly easier than a real phase, what I might do is require the speedruner to be inside the wall for 400ms but that would make it so that runs where you phase really quickly in and out and it would not count.)
@JumboSheep yeah, there's many ways you can time a phase. I think we should make a new forum and ask for ideas about how to time phase%. after we've accumulated enough ideas, I think we should put it to a vote. I'm leaving an example of a vote in the link below to inform people how our vote will be like.
@JumboSheep since no one is voting, I’m locking the thread. Now it’s time to decide what timing method to use for the phases.
