In Florida (world 4 level 1) you will eventually jump up onto a high raised land formation with two goombas followed by a cliff with a pit of DEATH (lol). Try not to jump off the cliff until you get to the very last few pixels of the cliff, so that you go far enough to jump onto the powerup box that's placed very high in the air. Once you land on it, immediately jump and you will jump over both pipe men. If you fail this strategy, go directly against the first pipe, jump up, and briefly hold right on the joystick so Bernie is standing just one or two pixels away from the pipe man's hitbox. Then, turn around jump up onto the powerup box. This saves more time than waiting for the pipe men to go back in the pipe but is also a riskier backup strat.
