Do we know what the fastest straight line movement is?

I have tried and tried to compare to other players in chaos squad, but can't quite tell.

Grinding and boosting with no jumps might be the fastest, but I think it might be grind boost, jump boost grind boost.

the execution is tough. you need to jump a few frames after thengrind boost ends, but the jump needs to be very low, and you need to get the air boost on itsnearliest frames too. then you can just buffer the next boost before you grind which is easy.

but that might not actually be faster than just grinding and mashing boost, and I would really love to see if any one knows

I don't think anyone has done the frame by frame testing. I would love to find out though.

sweet one person still exists here!

I will see if I can use some dvr clips to figure stuff out. active frames of the boost, time after that until speed gets reduced, etc will all be cool to know.

also some questions. I am routing my run now, you guys don't fast travel do you? Im not going to. and the only other thread here is about not using dlc, im totally using dlc because I like the dive.

Basically nobody's ever going to see this now, but... Here is a chart I made of movement speeds in m/s of different traversal types. I am about 85% sure of everything in the chart, but it will be updated as I find out more: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12fnrn8jbMpAEEbmiWwImfbh_giRFbXteucqo9G28GgA/edit?usp=sharing

IzonHopping is Airdash -> Ground-slam canceled by a roll -> Handspring -> Repeat. Only works at ground level, not actually faster if boosted grinding has a straighter path. Leaving out the roll would be faster if that were possible but you can't cancel the ending of an airdash without a ground-slam, and you can't cancel a ground-slam with anything faster than a roll at ground height.

Water IzonHopping is Air-Dash -> Dive -> Water Glide -> Jump -> Air-Dash -> Dive -> Underwater handspring -> Repeat. Always the fastest way to cross water AFAIK.

If you aren't already, think of your movement as a sine wave in 3 dimensions.

Some videos I probably should have put up a long time ago:

Boosted Grinding vs. Izon-Hopping:

yeah, i'm an egotistical piece of shit who named a technique after himself. watch it be useless hahahaha
