Was playing earlier and was carrying a Sonic throughout the whole game and thought it would be in interesting catagory. Came here and saw it didnt exist.

So the idea is for a Tails to carry another character throughout the whole game, no movement from the other character at all. "Tails Assist Any%" was the idea for the title.

The problem is it doesn't offer anything great to either the Sonic or Tails story. It's pretty much dead all things considering for human level speedrunning.

You can feel free to run as Sonic & Tails, and I'm sure if it's fun for yourself it'll be cool, but it's just one of the many things that offers nothing to the run.

Other instances of things not offering anything are versions of the game, as there are of course an overwhelming amount of them including demos. There's also "all levels" runs or similar. These in their own right can be fun and or enjoyable but they're not really competitive within the game.

A Sonic & Tails Speedrun wouldn't be faster than just running through the game as Sonic for instance as you can only feasibly fly upwards, and I say this because competitively it will just be Sonic's story retextured which is a big part of what we look for in making categories.

Thank you for the suggestion, it's a cool one, but it's not something we haven't considered.
