Hello, just wanted to know some methods to knew if a run is spliced or not... |
(edited: ) |
There are multiple ways, here are some of them: It may help to look at this video: Ill repeat myself here but just keep in mind that some people can't record with a good quality! Not every run that seems spliced at first is actually spliced, talk with the runner first! |

Be aware of framedrops and lag! Nothing is worse than getting accused of cheating when actually your PC is a potato. |

Occam's razor. Sometimes a stream drops some serious frames when the streamer's significant other decides to watch Netflix at the same time as the stream. It happens. |

Thank you all, the video doesnt look like it has frame drops or lag. I have my suspicions because the run in question is really really good, it's his only uploaded run, and also there's no audio. But I will not accuse him of splicing, at least till I get actual proof, because he has discovered a lot of tricks for the game and actually seems he knows a lot of the game. |

I know the feeling Garita, just remember, innocent until proven guilty. If you want some assistance evaluating a run, please ask I'm sure many of the mods for other games would be willing to help! |

I think dumping a video on this forum with the question if it is spliced isn't the way to go.. Isn't there a small group (Discord or something) where you can dump the video you have doubts of? Privately? |

Having no audio should almost be enough of a reason to reject a run outright. You shouldn’t submit a run if it’s silent or has music playing over it, etc because it’s hard to verify much of anything from just a silent video. If you do reject the run though, at least tell the person that they need to record their audio as well as the video. |

I'm with you Timmiluvs, audio should be a requirement IMO. Isn't it almost harder to omit the audio than to record it? |

I think that's the mature thing to do, instead of the gun-slinging and shooting of accusations that seems to be popular these days. |

I agree with most of what people here said but also make sure that all numbers are staying consistent (such as coins) and if someone were to have a speedrun that only shows part of the screen and is missing a piece of information that could be used to tell if it’s spliced or not that’s also suspicious (like what TheGreatToddman said about audio). Any inconsistencies in anything usually means a spliced run. |
