It has come to my attention that a lot of people want to run a glitchless or a no major glitches category due to the difficulty in a lot of the glitches needed to run this game seriously. I am making this thread as a way for the people who want to run that category to come up with the rules and maybe try to get one of the above categories made. Personally, I think it would be easier to do no major glitches but that will depend on what everyone wants. the main thing is for everyone who wants to run to use the same rules.

Xandre made "rules" for a glitchless category a while ago in the discord, I think the main reason it's not been added is because not many runs have been done of it. So if we want the category added, we need to do runs.

Yeah, only a select few have been doing it. Love to see those "Pure Skill" Speedruns though but more runners have to be "willing" to do it.

Well, I decided to do a no reset S+T BE Glitchless run just to get the ball rolling maybe, I'll try to upload it for tomorrow and link it here.

I took into account everything that Xandre said what would and wouldn't be allowed in the discord, so I did some stuff still, like jumping through slopes in PG1 and HC2, flying over the gap in HC2 and running on the ceiling in 1 part in TM2 (I think that's all).

Once you see the run, you'll see what I mean, since these 4 things feel in a grey area for me. We can discuss whether it should be fine as a 1st run or if we want to go further with the definition of glitchless

Yeah, don't known if going through over the 1st Ice jet and the pipe crossroads in PG2 and MM1 as Tails are considered a glitch as of yet but playing HC1 and HC2 normally without going through them. Probably link the previous No Emerald Glitchless run a bit later.

I will add to this as well. Will be a refreshing thought to have a glitchless category as glitches ig always look menacing, for both new and experienced runners lol. I probably won’t even do any over the wall or slide clips either. Keep it completely glitch/clip free.

I think adding a Glitchless category to the Mania (CatEx) Board would be a great addition.

As someone who has been running Tails NG+ Glitchless for some time now I truly enjoy having a way of playing the game without overly relying on extremely precise, annoying and stresfull skips like TM2 for example.

If we manage to set up clear rules and guidelines as to what is and isn't a glitch or what is and isn't allowed in the run, it'd open up a path for many new Runners for the game (who before might have been intimidated by stuff like MM1 or TM2 skip).

I also already have some runs saved as VODs which I could contribute to the leaderboard!

Happy to see we're having an open discussion about this and trying to open up the game for more people.

I agree with mikemino for the "grey areas". I would even add spindashing into PG2's red spring without breaking the ice block it's supposed to be stuck in.

A good strat would be : if too many tricks are in the grey area, then "NMG" would be a better category name than "glitchless" ^^

yea i agree NMG would be better because there are a lot of grey area's like does the layer swap in HC count as a glitch? does spindashing into the spring instead of breaking the ice in PG 2 count as a glitch? NMG would allow for the smaller stuff like that wile still dealing with the issues of the frame perfect glitches that i feel are stopping people from running the game

I haven't done any runs for this as there was no category, if there's gonna be a glitchless category on the way then count me in ^^

i would actually run this category as well. seems like it would be fun. IDK if we should move this to category extensions or not though. we might have a better chance of it getting scene by the mods there

I'd be all down for Glitchless categories, I mainly do speedruns for fun and I don't have the time to learn all these precise skips and glitches, so having a category where I don't need to worry about all that would be great.

yea that's the main reason why I want to get this category going. There are a lot of very precise skips that a lot of people do not want to learn. or do not have the time to learn.
