New Metropolis 3 Zip Setup

Hey everybody, it's been a long, long time. I was practicing Metro 3 today and came upon this. To start, do a one-tap spindash and land somewhere close to the middle of the slope (if you do it where you see in the video it should work consistently). After that, get hit by the projectile. It's important that you don't input anything on the controller before and while you're getting hit. Once you regain control, do a one-tap again and kill the badnick. If your position was right on the slope and Tails was nice (which is helped by not touching the controller while getting hit), then Tails should spindash off to the left. Now you have to make a mad dash for the normal setup spot and position yourself as you would if you were doing the other setup. Tails will run back and trigger the platform to drop, at which point you should be pausing like crazy and be prepared to input right, the same as the old setup. I don't know how much faster it is, but it does eliminate some of the weirdness that can happen with Tails. Let me know if you like it or not, and if you have any questions I'd be happy to help the best I can.

you can achieve the same effect by doing a low + late jump over the badnik so that tails gets hit , he will do the same thing only this time you don't spend time getting damaged :) It's done in this run, timestamp 15:07

Woah, I didn't even know there was a new world record lol. That seems much faster than what I did. Tails also runs farther away in the version that I did, so that's good to know too. Thank you for bringing this up, it just goes to show you that there will always people smarter than you. Cheers!

Your method is really good though, I've tried it a couple times and it gives you way more time to get on the right pixel before tails catches up so its definitely way easier! Good stuff

Thanks man. Hopefully, I can get some results with it and finally run this game again lol.

Over the past week, speedrun community members of Sonic 2 have discussed and voted on a potential switch to the primary timing method for Sonic 2, which has been IGT (In-Game Time) for as long as the game has been ran. IGT promotes a playstyle that abuses pausing, which gets amp
