Note: intensity level has almost no impact on how this run plays out, so this guide applies to both the any intensity and intensity 30 categories.
Contents
1. Prerequisites
2. Beginnia
3. Transient Temple
4. Dragaux Stadium
5. General Tips
Prerequisites
● Play through at least one course before starting your run to avoid having an exercise prompt come up before the first Victory Pose.
● Equip a clothes set that gives a speed bonus, such as the Street Runner set.
- This saves roughly three seconds for every minute depending on the level.
● Ensure that you have at least 2000 exp before leveling up to be on the safe side.
● Calibrate the ring con and leg con.
- If you're running the intensity 30 category, make sure to show calibration before the run and calibrate the ring con to 100.
● Playing in default or silent mode is up to personal preference, it has no innate effect on the run.
Beginnia
Since this is the first course of the game, it's pretty straightforward. The only somewhat challenging part is skipping the high knee stairs, but it's good practice for Dragaux Stadium later on.
● At the base of the high knee stairs after the three ring press doors, jump and then double jump at the apex of your jump.
- Immediately after landing on the stairs, jump and double jump again.
- Repeat the process one more time to reach the top of the stairs without doing any high knees.
● When reaching the edge of the wood plank section, drop down instead of jumping for the coins and exp medal.
● When played optimally this course should give a 1:14 in-game time (IGT).
Transient Temple
This is the most complex course of the run, consisting mostly of slopes and drop offs. As a rule of thumb, you'll pretty much always want to run down the declines and jump over the inclines if possible.
● At the first two drop offs, drop down instead of jumping for the coins.
● On the short incline, jump once at its base.
● On the longer incline, double jump at its base.
● Jump over the gap.
● Double jump over the first monster.
● Jump and land four times in quick succession for the series of short inclines, always landing on the flat sections of the course.
● Run across the breaking platforms.
● At the next set of drop offs, you can either jump over the first gap and then fall or fall down immediately; the time difference is negligible.
● At the base of the high knee stairs, jump and then double jump at the apex of your jump.
- Immediately after landing on the stairs, jump one more time to reach the top of the stairs without doing any high knees.
● Double jump over the second monster.
● In the last section, you can either double jump onto the flat platform where the exp medal is and then fall or fall immediately; once again the time difference is negligible.
- If you choose to fall down, jump over the short inclines.
● When played optimally this course should give a 1:07 IGT.
Dragaux Stadium
This course is literally just one giant staircase, get some good jumps in and you're golden.
● At the base of the high knee stairs, jump and then double jump just after the apex of your jump.
- Immediately after landing on the stairs, jump and double jump again.
- Jump and double jump a third time to use up the last of your running momentum.
- Be prepared to immediately transition into high knees after landing from your third set of jumps.
● When played optimally this course should give a 0:45 IGT.
General Tips
● Always use the buttons and control stick on the ring con for menuing rather than motion controls.
● Make sure you're always running at full speed with a flaming head. If this is difficult to achieve, try recalibrating the leg con.
● Mash ring presses at the start of each level to skip the intro cutscene.
- Start mashing when the ring icon on the loading screen stops spinning.
● Learn the timing for victory poses to perform them as quickly as possible to save a bit more time.
● At the end of each level, mash the bottom button on the ring con to skip through the pulse check and then the right button to skip through everything else.
● Watch out for popups telling you to take a break after you finish a level.
- If you do get a popup, mash the bottom button for the first dialogue box and the right button for the rest.
All of this together gives a time of 3:54. A 3:53 may be possible but the run would have to be played incredibly perfectly.
