Capture the gameplay

Hi everyone,

Having bled the game the first week of its release on its three main game modes I wanted to get into speedrun yesterday. So I wanted to record my session in easy NG + by going directly through the recording tool, only when it was halfway through the recording stopped and impossible to play the video file which seems corrupted to check where it is stopped recording. I specify that I have a lot of disk space remaining so I don't think that's a big problem. Do you have any tips for catching?

Thanks in advance!

If you have a pc connected you could stream it on twitch and download the vod. If your like me and don’t have a pc then there is no way to stream.

Okay I see. It's really stupid that they removed the possibility of streaming on Facebook because I could have recovered the vod from there I think. It's a shame we don't have the option to stream on twitch without a pc, with the tchat on the wrist like on desktop VR it would have been perfect! Thank you for the feedback which confirms what I thought...

I had practiced my first run today and got It in somewhere around 2 hours 3 min. It wasn't until I was already at the results screen when I realized my recording had shut down sometime before and the footage was completely lost so I couldn't even tell how long it was recording for. Any idea on what the time frame is for recordings? 1 hour? 2 hours? Sucks it can't run indefinitely.

unfortunately quest 2 recordings can only reach a max file size of 3.80gb's before corrupting if not stopped before that limit. not really sure what that equals upto time wise, but without altering recording settings such as resolution and bitrate, which will increase file size quicker. (30/60+fps setting is okay to change) you can easily fit a full run in and stop/save the recording

I went onto sidequest and made all the recording settings as low as possible and as soon as I got to the jetski the recording stopped. I had one eye on the little red recording bubble all game and as soon as I turned the key it disappeared. Ended up getting 1:45:03 but doesn't mean anything if my quest corrupts every recording I make. I'm unsure what's causing this and if anyone else has this as an consistent issue I'd appreciate any advice

@TakeOutPow I experienced everything you just said as well. My first run was around an hour and 50 minutes and by the time I was done I realized that it stopped recording right around the jet ski part. I’ve also experienced corrupt files as well. Best thing I can say so far is to try to keep it under 1 hour and 45 mins if possible, that seems to be pushing it for me for some reason. Super frustrating to complete a nearly 2 hour run just to have it be invalidated at the very end of the game!

The most consistent way of recording a 2hr long Quest footage as of now is to use Oculus Casting or SideQuest Casting and record from a PC unfortunately. Which means you'll require access to a PC (any PC should do in this case, shouldnt have to be a high end one) and maybe a decent router as well for the casting screen to not stutter too much.
