Meme Speedrun Idea?

I have a meme speedrun idea. Run 100 Meters, but it's IRL. I'm not sure how this isn't already a thing.

That's a good idea. I added 2 new categories. One with a hurdle and one without. It's kinda the same as just running 100 meters like in the olympics though. So I wonder how many people would actually run these categories.

Is the "In Real Life 100 meters" category about the time it takes for a human to run on a real track? If so, is it this really a "QWOP"...?

Netherlands

The Real Life category is indeed based on running on a real track. It's similar to the Pencil Sharpening Simulator Real Life records: https://www.speedrun.com/pss

I do agree on that it's not really a "QWOP". Maybe we can have a disussion on having the "In Real Life" categories or removing them.

Thanks for the reply. I see! I see that there are similar attempts in other game categories. I thought it was an interesting category, but in the case of QWOP, it's already being competed as an official track and field event as the 100m run, so I thought it didn't need to be set up here. I also felt uncomfortable with the possibility of Usain Bolt being the world number one in one category of QWOP, so I thought it would be better to remove it.

Fair point. The real 100m records are already tracked by World Athletics. Sorry for the miscommunication. I removed the categories from the page. Usain Bolt is welcome to try for a QWOP record though.

I might consider open a 100 meters category with a hurdle at 50 meters if people are actually doing attempts at that, because that doesn't exist as an official Olympics record, but I doubt that would actually happen.

Thank you for reflecting this too. I also took this opportunity to learn about speedrun's IRL category. It certainly looks like it could be done with a 100m run with hurdles added, but it looks difficult...

I have a suggestion to add about a new category on this occasion. I have planned to run a full marathon (42.195km) on QWOP in the past. Can I set up that category?

Please check this long video for reference :

That's amazing. I can set up a category for a full marathon. I can also add you as a moderator to this game if you're interested. Do you think there will be other runners for this category?

Thank you. As for the moderator, I would like to participate if it is okay with me.

The full marathon category was not actually invented by me, but by Natori Yaezawa, who was the first distributor to do it. YouTube List: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRwDZ4SFJd5IAX1_qC_OHeJgMwWh0k755

A total of four runners have completed the marathon, including her and me. For more details, please refer to this web page in Japanese. : https://dic.nicovideo.jp/id/5588549

If you'd like to check it out, please do so.

I can only make you a moderator if you have "Require e-mail authentication" in your settings. I'll be glad to add the marathon category to the page. I will be adding it tomorrow.

Oh, I'm sorry. I've set up "Require e-mail authentication". If there are any other registrations that need to be made, I would appreciate it if you could let me know.

I also understand about adding categories. I will try to set up the rules as well.

Netherlands

It's ok. I've added you as a moderator and also added the 42.195 km category. Feel free to change anything about it and add the rules.

Thank you for registering as a moderator.

I'll try to add the rules, but I'm not very good at English and I'm writing this through a translation site, so if the grammar or words are wrong, I'd appreciate it if you could correct them.

I changed some sentences in the rules, but overal the translation was pretty good. It was good enough to understand the rules of the run. Most of my changes were based on making the text a bit easier to read and flow a bit better.

For some reason, I didn't get notified at all through all the thread posts. Welp, makes sense why it didn't stay.
