Gameplay Changes in Eltale Monsters (Quest 64 Japanese)

-Items Items in Monastery are different The tavern keep in Dondoran gives Fresh Bread in the US version and Honey Bread in JP. One chest in Boil Hole is different Enemies may drop items if you have 0-2 of them in Eltale, up from 0 in US

-Gameplay Defense increases twice as fast Agility increases faster First boss deals less damage Staff Double attack Magic Barrier lasts 2-6 turns, lasts 2-3 turns in US Enemies can deal 1.5x damage critical hits Bosses give both HP and MP in Eltale, only HP in US version. Guilty and Mammon have an element in Eltale, so spells deal full damage, about twice as much. Solvaring moves backward a great distance in JP and only slightly in US when using his short-range attack. Shilf and Beigis experience a great deal of knockback when they use their beam attacks in JP but not in US.

  • Glitch Differences: Brian's battle arena is more circular in the JP version, and is octagonal in the US version. This is relevant for out-of-bounds clipping using the battle arena, though it is still possible in both versions. There is a short animation while the 'choose an element' box loads in the JP version. Spirit cloning via Exit/Return is limited to 2 (rarely 3) in JP, whereas 2-5 (rarely 6) in US is possible due to this load time. If you are faster than all enemies in an encounter, you can mash at the start of your turn to pass your turn in the US version before your movement octagon to gain additional AGL experience based on the distance traveled since the end of the last encounter. This has been removed in the JP version.

-UI HP and MP are always displayed on screen in Eltale Brian glows when your stats/spirits increase Eltale has a map marker you can place on the overworld maps Battle ring is more circular in Eltale Spirit Crystal at bottom left glows when an element is maxed Changing text speed menu is different to manipulate

-Story Brian is called Jean-Jacques in Eltale Over 50 new textboxes added to the ending Translation of ending text: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1K2UsopNWlO-q68A5TQ7d1pI9E3QPJVozdgis-KSkoiA/ Ending has a flyover of all the zones in the game rather than a simple text scroll.

-Music Save menu has new music
