This problem has been ongoing for over a month and now it's just ridiculous. When I follow the game, I expect it to be shown in the category "followed games". Although such games are shown, the visit count and the last visit date are stuck and even if I visit the page of that game, that visit won't count. Previously, I'd accept the fact the server needed to record such a visit to add to the visit count and to update last visit date, but recently it just doesn't update that all anymore. Because of that it can happen that even if I visit the game's page to submit the run, the last visit date won't be updated. That can lead to the weird scenarios where I have some runs submitted in one game days after the alleged "last visit". Before anyone claims anything, no, I didn't unfollow the game during that time and it remained followed during that entire time.

Hi. As some sort of my input in the speedrunning community I think I'd like to suggest an optimal strategy in beach volleyball. It's already been discovered that the optimal strategy in terms of service would be to serve a float, very close to the net, allowing the opponents to spike at the 3rd touch. But I've noticed that the top runs mainly focus on receiving that spike and then attacking for a pretty easy point. But I think my strategy is better and allows more time to be shaved off. I believe that blocking that spike instead of receiving it saves more time. Of course, to block a spike, you'd need to be in the correct position and have correct timing so that the spike doesn't avoid a block. It might be riskier, but I feel that if you block all 20 times, you're gonna save 3,5 seconds per point. Do it 20 times and you have 1:10 of a timesave. It may be more difficult due to the technical aspects, but perhaps if that's what it takes, a sub-35 could be pulled off in Easy%? Not that I'd do that since I'm not that skillful yet, but if the top runners went for it, the 35-minute barrier could be broken.

Geometry Dash ain't really a game meant to be for speedrunning.

So far I've been uploading all my runs on my YT channel. I had no issues with that. I'm definitely keeping them on the channel. But there is an issue. YouTube seems to be pretty aggressive with anti-adblocking. And sure, I do have uBlock Origin which works nevertheless. But I don't think I tried using it on YT while being logged in on my account. You could call me dumb, but I was actually worried YT would ban my account for using an adblocker. And that'd mean all the runs would be lost. At the same time though I'd really want to upload videos from my Mac as I use it to record the speedruns from X360 games. Yet I don't feel like disabling an adblocker on YT, hell nah. And I don't think YT app exists on Mac. Thus I've been looking for some alternatives. Twitch would be ideal if it wasn't for a fact I'd have to have some livestreams to meet the requirements to even be able to upload videos there. And since my first livestream was awful, I requested my account deletion. I looked for some alternatives, but they were either not good enough for the "free plan" users, were decentralized, had too much to do with cryptocurrencies or straight-up had too controversial content. I know some would say speedruns uploaded to Google Drive would be accepted as well (or at least in most cases), but I don't want to use too much of it for speedrunning. 15 GB isn't too much and could be used for much important stuff. Am I actually stuck at YouTube? Aren't there any alternatives? Also, if you want to recommend me any alternative, it better not be Odysee.

Geez, that was the very same DM I got from the account I reported here. Seriously, a Captcha verification should be a minimum. Or at least IP or device bans.

As I've recently been considering a switch from YT to Twitch, I kept in mind that YouTube Frame Timer, which is very useful for retaining speedruns uploaded to YouTube, may not work on videos published on Twitch. So I have to think about the potential frame timer that'd work on Twitch videos. So what could be the possible equivalent of YouTube Frame Timer for Twitch videos? It'd be great if at least such one existed since I don't really want to download the video just to retime the speedrun.

Got some news. In the latest version the world 8 issue has been fixed. One fix of the patch notes states:

“Fixed certain items with specific toggle platform settings causing the cat to immediately die upon spawning, if the spawnpoint was placed at room origin.”

But it's probably Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole that kinda broke me. I bought the game as I was a fan of Guardians of Ga'Hoole. It may be related more to the movie, but still it's a bit different. And I liked the plot. And I started grinding once I got a hang of it. Testing out all the variations. All the owl species. A Great Horned Owl was an optimal owl species for the Any% speedruns, but due to the Great Grey's combat stats it was the Great Grey Owl that matched my playstyle. With almost each run I was able to improve my PB and effectively the WR. But there were 2 things that started to concern me: RNG and my mistakes. I was usually losing time on tutorial and on Desert of Kuneer to later on gain so much time in Forest Kingdom of Tyto, Glauxian Brothers' Retreat and The Beaks. In tutorial it was usually the game that wasn't well-optimised. Then there is Desert of Kuneer with its mission 3 called Thieves In The Night. In the first phase you have to retrieve the owlets snatched by the bats and bring the owlets back to Streak's nest. It is crucial to get early grabs as each missed early grab can cost you up to 40 seconds. Still up to date I don't really know if I just suck at that mission or if it somewhat relies on RNG. But out of all my attempts I guess it was just once or twice I managed to pull off all 3 early grabs. Then, there is Resistance Evacuation (Tyto mission 2) where after defeating 6 Pure Ones you get 3 waves of the carriers. In the first wave you keep the carrier safe whereas in 2 other waves you let the carriers be defeated. How fast they're going to be defeated depends on the enemy's accuracy and on the wingmen defeating the enemies. To save time, you have to hope that the carriers are defeated as fast as possible. And that can kill a run. But that wasn't much of an issue for me. Not as a big of a concern as my mistakes in further attempts. Yes, I was making mistakes. And considering a single Any% run could last for almost 1,5 hours, a mistake could be even more frustrating when you're really pushing yourself to the limit. And unfortunately, that affected my mental health badly. It could even affect my speedruns in other games. That's why I decided I had to put a limit on how much I could speedrun.

It's not that I'm giving up on all the games I've spedrun, but now I'm not speedrunning as much as I used to. Perhaps I could return once to LOTG or any other game I gave up on. But that can be tough due to my studies and to me wanting to finally get back to writing fan-fics and a series of the fantasy novels. I can't let myself force to speedrunning if it's going to ruin the fun I had when playing the games.

Hereby, I'm sorry if it's filled with negativity. I'd really want to speedrun once I actually feel like doing so. But I also want to have fun while speedrunning. It shouldn't really be about the competition. It should be about fun.

I think I'd like to share a few stories of mine. Gonna break it in several parts as the site didn't let me send the whole text in a single reply.

The first story will be about how I got into speedrunning. It was back in January when I got back to Grayland. Not a popular game, but pretty good for a mobile game. At that time I believe I was quite into the speedrunning content. Like watching speedrun-related videos on YT. I knew about src and I thought it'd be a good idea to check out if the game was there. Indeed, it was. After getting a timer I decided to go for my first run. I didn't record it, but at that time I wasn't sure whether it was allowed to skip the cutscenes, so I didn't do that. After finding out it was allowed, I decided to go for another run, but this time I was skipping cutscenes and the run was recorded too. Later on, I kept practising the speedruns in that game and I was also speedrunning another game I liked: Angry Birds Stella.

As I'm currently writing it, I actually returned to these games and got the runs clocked in in the categories I hadn't tried before. Which no one else had tried before. And I'm also preparing to eventually speedrun full game in Angry Birds Stella.

Unfortunately, the second story isn't really cool as it explains why I'm trying not to speedrun as much as I used to. I'd say the problem began once I started speedrunning Xbox 360 games. There are just 2 of them that I speedran. Though primarily I'd been thinking about speedrunning 4. Apart from the games I've spedrun the intended ones were also Need For Speed: ProStreet and Kinect Sports. Really beloved games for me. So what went wrong? Skill issue. In Kinect Sports, apart from the fact I don't know how to enable controller mode, I absolutely sucked at boxing. What you have to do there to keep your run after boxing is to make sure that you win by KO just after 2 knockdowns in round 1. And you have to punch really fast. I'm doing well in all other sports but boxing. And in Need For Speed: ProStreet I just can't seem to match the times good speedrunners can get there on the early stages. Drag races are crucial as sometimes you may just need drag races to win or dominate race days.

But I'd like to focus on the X360 games I've spedrun. I'll begin with Kinect Adventures. It took me some time to find an optimal route for the Any% run, but I don't regret that. Neither do I regret going for a 100% run once. Even if that meant almost 2 hours and 50 minutes of moving all around without taking breaks. I believe I could go for one more run in that category if I ever go for it again.

Thank y'all for your suggestions. I browsed the Internet in search for how to livestream a mobile game. The problem with livestreaming on YT is that you apparently need at least 1k subscribers in order to even be eligible for doing it. I believe there is some external app with which you can livestream your content on YT, but I'm not sure whether it could bypass YT's requirements. And I'm not really feeling like signing up at Twitch. Sure, I wouldn't have sponsors since I'm speedrunning just for fun and I'd rather earn money with a normal job, but I'm just not sure about the platform's future. So in case of a livestream, that might be a bit problematic.

I also reached out to the game mod yesterday evening and as they claimed, as long as there is no missing gameplay between the 2 recordings, it'd be fine to do that in a way I explained at the beginning. Speaking of the quality, I believe that even if I set up 720p as the recording quality, in a longer recording YT seems to process my videos just in the 360p quality (unless I'm recording on iOS since for some reason I can't just change the recording quality on iOS). But anyway, since I got in touch with the game moderator and they gave their opinion on that, I take their words for granted.

Actually, my current device has a storage of 64 GB, yet the max file size is just 4 GB for some reason. On my previous phone the max file size was 2,5 GB whereas its storage was 16 GB. Pretty weird, if you ask me, but there's nothing I can do with that. But that's alright as long as the run gets accepted in the form of the segments of the run done in one sitting.

Since I’m considering speedrunning some mobile game which could take over 1,5 hours, there might be an issue while recording. My phone has a max file size limit of 4 GB. Obviously, the screen recording app recording size limit can be set to the max possible limit which depends on the device (in this case it’d be 4 GB). As I’ve noticed, 4 GB is around 1 hour and 20 minutes of a recording. That means the rest of such a speedrun would be in a separate file. Tl;dr one file would be the first part of the recording lasting for 1 hour and 20 minutes and another one would last for around 20-30 minutes. Let’s say I’m uploading both these videos on YT. And I’d like to give links to both parts in a run submission. Would I be allowed to do that or would such a run be rejected? If the second option is the case, then should I consider live-streaming that attempt?

From what it appears to be, this problem seems to be present on Samsung Internet Browser as browsing the very same website via Chrome or Firefox didn't have the same issue. So the thing is that from time to time the nicknames of some speedrunners in the "latest runs" tab may be invisible. Normally the solution is to hold the finger on the nickname as if you were meant to tap on it but not to tap it. Just to hold it (unless you want to check the speed runner's profile). As I've said, that issue is present on Samsung Internet Browser exclusively. The question is whether I should switch to Chrome or Firefox not to experience that issue. Out of curiosity, if that issue is exclusive to Samsung Internet Browser, do you think you'd be able to fix it?

I'd like to suggest a new feature. It's known that you can order the games, in which you have at least one run, by your choice. It clearly works. But how about the followed games? In case one unfollows some games and decides to refollow them, their order can be different. Or basically the order of the followed games is random. I'd like to suggest game ordering for the followed games as well. It may not make much of a difference in case of the profile when one views it, but that'd be so helpful when clicking on "games" where you get to see the shortcuts to the games you follow.
