I prefer running platformers with a good amount of skips and tricks.the game also needs to allow emulator, preferably dolphin.

Sounds like sunshine to me but given the fact that you’re looking for ideas, you’re not interested. In that case, banjo games, 64, and perhaps some nsmbw hacks

England

There aren't many games that will allow Dolphin emulator usage due to concerns about accuracy.

How about these two:

Neither have any skips, and aren’t emulator (they’re native PC/Web), but both are really quick and easy to run (easily sub 5:00, guranteed top 3 spot as of right now), and they are both really fun.

How about a game that you like? If you don't like the game there is no way you are going to spend a lot of time on it.

Yeah definitely, my first submitted run was of a Minigame in Kirby Star Allies

Does it have to be specifically Wii/Gamecube games, or can it be platformers on other consoles with emulator?

Melee allows emulators.

@theripper999 Out of all the game i speedrun, i only played 5 of them before and these 5 game were probably the one i spent the less time on it. Everyone is different and you should know that by now.

Anyway i'll plug skylar and plux, its a pc platformer, fair amount of skip and medium trick. I know its not on a emulator but whatever. better wait for steam sale if you want to buy it though

Someone else from RI. :o

Anyway, my recommendation is to play PC games, then you won't need an emulator at all. There are plenty of good indie PC games that are inexpensive. Are you looking for 2d or 3d? Specifically for something with a lot of skips, or are you fine with something that's mostly glitchless with a few minor sequence breaks?

If you do choose something that you have to emulate, make sure you follow the community's directions as to which emulators are allowed or banned. Several emulators are terrible in terms of accuracy, and would give runners an unfair advantage as a result.
