I don't run this game, nor do I have any plans too but I'm just curious why runs need to be on Youtube in order to be accepted
Youtube is definitely the quickest and most convenient for moderators but forcing people to upload to a certain platform is quite frankly, stupid. Especially in countries where Youtube is not mainstream or even outright banned/blocked.
TikToks take about 2 seconds to download, surely it isn't that much effort to retime them?
Twitch and Bilbili will take just as long, especially since the runs are a minute or less
There have been thousands of submitted runs in the past week. The game is currently getting about 15 submissions an hour. Many of which include hacked runs, incorrectly submitted times, submissions to the wrong categories due to language barriers and trolls. All of this is in addition to having to clean up runs that have been verified incorrectly throughout all of this.
The priority has been getting through a 2000+ submission backlog asap. So yes, having to manually download videos is a significant inconvenience to the verification process right now, adding an unnecessary step to a workload that has already gone far beyond what any niche speed game verifiers should be expecting. If it doesn’t take much effort to download, it shouldn’t take much effort from a runner to reupload to a website that has the built in tools to make this verification process easier on everyone.
When the leaderboard brigading stops, tik tok videos can be reassessed as valid submission embeds by the game’s community. For now, YouTube is a requirement for top 30.
dont have a certain opinion for that, but indeed is not just downloading it (which also can be harder in some cases, at least tiktok is easy), to retime them you probably need to get in an editor and do it from there is something i do with some of the runs in 100K subcategory, but it can be quite anoying sometimes, and meh if you have to do it with so many runs that require a retiming for being top 30
is youtube, photos or Drive in the other hand, it also isnt that much of a problem just uploading the video file to any of these instead of uploading it to tiktok; in Drive is specialy easy
oh yea so about this i think we are not accepting any mod more rn, at least not as strongly as some days ago, this is quite controlled now
Except that 70% of the workload is going towards a single person lol. Many mods have put forth minimal effort after the initial acceptance of moderatorship. Unless a segment of the mod team is going through old run submissions to fix retiming errors, then it's just unfair for the 4 mods putting forth the effort.
