Changes to the Board layout.

So I've said in the past I am going to be updating the leader boards to look better navigation wise and allow us to see more when browsing submitted runs. IL board setup normally makes sense for allot of games like Killing Floor but the overall look currently with how they are used and implemented is a tad ugly in terms of viewing and navigating, the problem with changing from IL would be that the navigation bar will have more variables listed and can and may look a bit cluttered when viewing all the levels as an example so a few things I am looking at doing to minimize that clutter while still allowing us to easily navigate would be to set levels as Misc by default and require us to hit the show all tab that would appear to show all or to hide them again. I would like some feed back before I would go ahead with these changes, if we do not like this idea or it does not turn out that well before I would be moving runs over then we can always just reformat IL's to look a tad cleaner and continue on as normal. Would very much appreciate everyone's thoughts on this.

Can't complain until I see it & I got no problem with it. :D

What would be the default view? I think that if you show Short HoE(this seems to be what most runners/viewers like to go for) as a default and have an indicator about length / difficulty and the rest hidden until the user wanted to see more would be good.

Sorry about the long delay on what's going on with the board layout. So IL will stay pretty much the same tho there will be some clean up happening.

Went through some personal stuff so I kinda just been awall while sorting that out.

I'll be working on runs again after I get a few backlog things done.

FG categories will be a new thing to try put for doing several maps back to back with sum of igt.

More details on that soon.

Will the core set be Biotics Lab, Burning Paris and Outpost and the rest get setup in blocks of 3? Or will there be more maps per block and if so are they group by release date or some form of theme?

Ontario, Canada

Ideally they wI'll be set up based on the original KF release maps and community. Then all the others post will be done the same way by release term. So will be pretty close to what you said.

Also this will open up the possibility to have mutation sets as well for additional challenge.

Another Reference Post; These are the only confirmed KF1 maps that made a Reappearance for KF2 that I know of. Legacy; Biotics Lab Farmhouse Burning Paris

I was thinking we could essentially group up a specific set of theme of levels that would use them all at some point and none would be used twice, however that seems to be the tricky part and would need some community feedback and suggestions in how we would like to proceed with that for giving FG some fun categories that require us to complete multiple maps for an overall sum of IGT.

Above this post is a list of all the current maps to date with their release year, and sorted by Tripwire and Community respectively.

Another thing we can look at is the inclusion of "Onslaught" as another category style of runs, which would be to complete X amount of waves by X time.

Also we can look at Objective mode in the future as well, but I'd like to get the first thing done which is sorting out how we would like to group the maps up and what we should name those groupings as.

Feel free to suggest etc were all open minded and very excited to see what we can do together.

For me there are no worries, do as you see fit

3 New maps were added to IL's Santas Workshop Shopping Spree Spillway

Nothing major to note atm about updates to board but IL's are now sorted Alphabetically. At some point I think Collectibles will be moved out of the current Board and added to an extensions board for other categories as well since this seems like the most effective way to do this based on experiments I have been doing and looking at with board organization.

Endless Mode speedruns could be a fun viable thing as I have mentioned before but have not herd or seen much feedback about that. I don't know how we will organize it if so, that will require some input from others since there is no definitive end to it. My thoughts were set wave increments for milestones vs time taken to get there, the other thing is that it would need to be decided how timing will work since IGT will not be possible unless its done till death. If there is a way to sort that category to work by highest wave vs time then that could work fine. More thought will have to go into that but as far as other stuff goes.

Endless isn't actually endless btw. It ends at wave 249. I do have one question/suggestion though. Would it be possible to have separate records for different perks? Someone could have the WR for Spillway using Berserker. However, other's could do runs for different perks for the said map, and those perks alone will have records. Like; MASH-Spillway, 1st place w/ Berserker. Then within the map categories, there are different perks where runs are separated, just like the different difficulties. I think that would be a nice addition, just for fun and because anyone can do runs with berserk/firebug, but using other classes in their own category would be interesting as they would imply a bit more skill, or just the fact alone maybe someone wants to be #1 as Gunslinger or another perk without really caring about having the best time compared to the WR. It could get more people into speedrunning KF2 as well.

@Zettie The reason we do not separate based on perks and only allow for people to track and sort by them is to have it like you said but not be ridiculous in tracking and managing or viewing the leader boards as it would create a very complicated mess for everyone. If you or others are looking to see which perks are fasted just sort the runs as such and you will see, the other thing is that perks to be actually useful to a large affect on runs need to be maxed as well and also are flexible in what they offer on top of that so there really wont ever be a 100% this is what always works approach to levels with specific perks but also with each persons flexibility and preference approach as well. The game allows for allot of variety so there will be no reason to officially separate things to that extensive way. Keeping things simple for both runners and people working on the board as well as for tracking purposes if we do deem it worth tracking is more then adequate for how we have it.

Endless is something I've been looking at for along while with other improvements to the board and anything others can share or throw at myself or others in terms of ideas or anything of the sorts is welcome and will be discussed.

As far as having more expansive categories goes in general it just complicates things for everyone and clusters the boards for no reason with extra sub categories that do not need to exist. We can and will track what is necessary as optional but not more then that beyond what is really needed. There is also the limitations we have to work with within SRDC in general and the tools at our disposal as well so that is also a large factor to this in general.

I agree it'd be cool to get some competition going here, but I can't imagine that further fragmenting the leaderboard would solve that.

Right now, if a person wanted to be the overall best at, say, Normal Long, they'd need to hold 1st on definitively above 50% of the maps just for Normal Long. But each map can take some practice and optimization to find a serious PB on. So, with the time investment if a real competition did kick off, it would take probably 3-4 players per difficulty/duration pairing to really be a visible competition to bring down times.

You might be able to see overlap in up to 3 categories from casual runners at a time, but that still means 12-15 people competing on times to have competition across existing solo categories. Adding a category for every single perk on top of that means 10+ the number of people to really push times.

Any less and people are really just throwing times at the wall to see what sticks.

I think the next think to do here aside from seeing about tiddying this up over here now before looking at other things is to start tracking the bosses that people face during their runs. This will help people see which bosses ultimately really affect the final result time. Tracking the bosses will not be a category on its own just something to track along side Perks for filtering reasons should they want to do so.
