I'm not sure if this goes into "The Site" Forum, but here goes.

Hello. My name is CosmoGray, and I moderate some speedrun.com communities. Such as, Baldi's Basics in Education and Learning, Meteor 60 Seconds!!, and a few VR Leaderboards.

Now to the important part. A few friends and I have been thinking of making a Discord bot that announces for every time a WR is broken in a game. Of course, this will not announce for every game on Speedrun.com, it will only do games you put on the games list. Let me explain through some commands.

(All commands that include the numbers after speedrun.com/ will be m6s, for meteor 60 seconds.)

!addgame m6s - Adds game to the games list. Must have the letters/numbers after speedrun.com/ to be added to the games list. - Admin only

!removegame m6s - Removes game from the games list. Must have the letters/numbers after speedrun.com/ to be removed to the games list. - Admin only

!wrmessage <message> - Add a message for the bot to say when the current WR was broken. - Admin only

!wr m6s - Shows all current WRs in that leaderboard, excluding miscellaneous and ILs.

!mods m6s - Shows all current moderators in that leaderboard.

!gamelist - Shows all current games on the games list, the games list is the leaderboards that WRBot tracks for new WRs 24/7.

Those are a few ideas we have for WRBot. If you have any feedback, if you have a question, or a suggestion, feel free to post it in the comments.

For some of these commands; you'll need to enable administrator for the bot. Specifically !mods & !wr. Some others we add in the future might need admin, like those.

Obviously this Bot is trying to be made for specific Discords. Such as, SMO, Celeste, SM64, and others.

I'm not sure if this is something I'd personally want to use (I check the site daily and I moderate all my main speed-games so I'm not likely to miss a new WR), but I can definitely see the appeal. Sounds like a cool idea.

Are you planning to create this yourself? If so, I've toyed around with creating Discord bots in C# a little bit, never got particularly far with it but I might be able to help out.

Also, probably worth nothing that there's a Twitter bot that does exactly this, although it's not game-filtered like your bot would be, it just announces everything: https://twitter.com/SpeedrunWRs

I'm well aware of the SpeedrunWRs twitter bot. That was actually one of the inspirations for this. I have two other people helping me work on this bot, but one of them refuses to get off league of legends. The game filtering idea came when I was in the VR Discord and decided to make this bot only for VR Games. But that wouldn't be fair to other communities, if we were the only ones that used it, and it only filters VR Games. The filter option will be hard to do, but it will be worth it. Thank you for the feedback.

Will we able to get the bot for our servers, too?

Yup! You’ll be able to add it to any server you want, and use it however you want.

Another channel for me to mute. I'm sure some people would like that though.

It only pings you if it’s told to. (Ex. !wrmessage [@here] A new WR has been beaten in <game> <category>! <time>!)

Can you make it so we have specific !wrmessage for the game? Like a parameter for it, for custom messages. (something like !wrmessage <game> <message>, or if you want it to apply to all !wrmessage all <message>)

Sorry for the late response @diggitydingdong! I haven't thought about that until now, but I'm sure we could have that as a command. Also, you mean like this?; !wrmessage cuphead Well, golly! A new WR was set for <category>! <time>!

My fellow devs talked about it, and we decided that at first we’re gonna make a basic beta, with just !wrmessage <message> and !addgame/!removegame.

But a filter for that will definitely be considered!

But in all seriousness, I know you hate devlogs on speedrun.com as much as I do. So, I have a few questions.
1. Should I make a Devblog? It would be more convenient for me, not having to search for this post everytime, and you could go straight to the site!
2. Do you have any ideas? Feel free to post them here!
3. When do you expect WRBot Beta to be released? November? December? idk.

1) do the blog
2) if possible, !info *gamename* or smth could bring some info about the game (release year, wr time, avg. run time, #runners, mb smth else)
3) whenever you feel like you want to release it

Just curious, but is the source of this bot not going to be on github or something similar? 

I'm not a fan of giving discord bots perms if I can't see their source codes due to the shady stuff people have done with them in the past.

For anyone skeptical, we will be releasing the source code for WRBot. However, we can reassure you that this bot is only for telling you about Speedrunning.

I think the server was either deleted or everyone who joined from that invite was kicked or something. I joined the server yesterday and I don't see it on my list of servers anymore.
