Faster, later versions of games

Hello runners and lurkers!

Not a runner but have been casually enjoying some GDQ over the years so forgive me for not knowing much.. https://vlc.onl AFAIK, runners seem to prefer older versions of games, wich makes sense, glitches fixed and whatnot. But are there many cases where later versions of the game is faster?

Newer versions can be faster if they better optimize loads. This is the case for Super Mario Odyssey, where faster loads save more time over the course of the run in Any% than the older glitches do.

One of my games, Maquette, added unskippable cutscenes to show parts of some puzzle solutions. But the same patch that added those cutscenes also made the unseen player character move tremendously faster over flat, straight ground (which happens 3 or 4 times in the run), thus making the newer patch faster overall.
