NFL Challenge medal challenge exploit (for NFL Gauntlet runs)

Hello,

I am creating this post as a reference to an exploit in NFL Challenge mode that would allow for every player's stats to be maxed out completely, which drastically increases possibilities for NFL Gauntlet submissions.

To do this, you must:

  1. Start a medal challenge (i.e. Coming Through found in Sportsplex).
  2. Earn a silver or bronze medal to gain development points.
  3. Retry the challenge instead of exiting.
  4. Rinse and repeat (the earned dev points will stack with every completion/retry until user exits or earns gold).

This pertains to creating a team for use in NFL Gauntlet. While the lone submission (as of 02/2020) appears to use this method, the validity of using custom teams in this category is questionable because of it.

For now, all custom team submissions will be counted as NG+.

Other potential solutions:

  1. User must show created team, and -a. categorize whether or not medal glitch was used to create it. -b. --or-- disallow medal glitch altogether.
  2. Allow use of the exploit.
  3. Disallow created teams in NFL Gauntlet altogether.

If you have a suggestion for this, feel free to share at anytime. Don't be afraid of bumping this post if it's old. I am open to anything that increases the credibility of this category.

So the team that I used for my gauntlet run was created using the dev points exploit. It is not a 'perfect team' but it is much better than any team that can be created using the normal methods. I actually considered making a 'perfect' team in order to run in this category but decided against it due to time constraints. I think that if the custom team category is kept that it would be incredibly hard/functionally impossible to verify the difference between custom teams that use the exploit and ones who don't. While a team like the one I used would be very easy to pick out as using the exploit, the way that Street 2 display's its stats make it very hard to tell what a players exact stats are. I feel like you could very easily use the exploit to gain an extra 10-15k in development points and make a team that would look at a glance very similar to a team that was made without the exploit. While I understand the spirit of trying to make an exploit and non exploit distinction, I ultimately think it wouldn't be feasible to enforce. If the custom category is kept I think that it has to be an 'anything goes' category, if nothing else than for simplicity sake for the mods. I for one (as a full one half of the community) think the category should be kept, and if anything where to be removed it should be the 'fantasy' category.

On a side note does this mean your making a run at my Gauntlet record? I know I not actively running ATM but I would love to see someone take a crack at it.

Zapp3d, your points are valid. I suppose I will keep it to NG and NG+ for non-custom and custom teams respectively, without an exploit distinction. Down the road this topic may be further reviewed, but for now the NFL Gauntlet - NG+ speedrun progression will ultimately come down to whoever has the best team (i.e. the "perfect" team).

What are your thoughts on removing Single Game to 36 - Fantasy category? I personally feel it's unnecessary to have at this time.

Also, yes. I plan on making attempts at the record. With a perfect team.

good luck my friend. in my experience it takes 3-4 hours to get the dev points to max your team out, so map out your time appropriately. I dont mind removing 'Fantasy' as a category in general. all it boils down to is pick the legends. At least with NFL teams you have 4 or 5 that are valid options.
