All,

Silent Hill 4 is available to buy digitally for PC on GOG's website for $9.99 as of today, 10/02/2020. I just bought it and it appears to be the same as the physical PC release from some time ago.

I doubt we'll ever get 2 & 3 but I'm glad we at least got one of them. If anyone can't afford a physical version, this might be the way to go for you if you still want to own a copy.

Actually there are a few improvements in this PC release....

The original 15fps cutscenes have been replaced with higher fps cutscenes. Post processing effects that were taken out of the original PC port have been put back in. Widescreen support added

And that's just what's been discovered so far. I can't believe Konami actually did WORK for this release lol

A pretty high profile video game leaker on Twitter said that the hauntings that were previously missing from the PC release were here (or at least, the kitchen sink haunting was) but I've played through twice now and I haven't seen any of the missing hauntings. I've also heard from a few people in the community that they haven't either. I even tried grabbing the doll both times and putting it in the chest or carrying it around with me in the house. I tried cleansing the other hauntings (like the windows, clock, fridge, etc) to see if that would somehow trigger the other hauntings to show up and I saw nothing to indicate the missing hauntings are here.

So, unless we get a comment from someone more reliable, I think we can safely say the hauntings are still missing unfortunately.

I also have an issue no one else seems to be experiencing. I'm unable to alt+tab out of the game without it literally killing my PC. And my build is very, very recent (SSD, Win 10, RTX GPU, etc) so it's not that. But if I alt+tab out, I'm unable to do ANYTHING. No task manager, no nothing. I have to do a hard reset each time. It's a very strange issue to have because I've never seen a game do this before. I've tried multiple compat. settings, run as admin, use 3rd party software to force windowed mode, run in virtual machine, run inside GOG Galaxy launcher, download and run without GOG Galaxy launcher (offline installer), etc. I get the complete system freeze no matter what I do if I alt+tab out. Others don't seem to be experiencing this problem but be wary, I can confirm it did at least happen to me so it's not without issues.

Is this version allowed for speedruns now? The rules state that I cannot use widescreen mode, but this version officially has it...

Since it's an official release, it should be allowed but I'll let the mods weigh in on that.

Do we have an autosplitter that works with the gog version? I've been able to set up autosplitter so it works on old version, but it doesn't work with gog version.

Guys - did anyone figured out how to setup an original resolution 4:3 in GoG version APART OF USING Nvidia control panel? So far the only solution to "remove" widescreen option is to make a custom resolution of your monitor and lauch the DXCFG app. Can anyone help please? P.S. The DLLInjector is garbage is fixes nothing but the annoying pause glitch menu.

Silent Hill 4 just got an update on GOG. Looks like more controller support and possibly a few other fixes. I'm still trying to figure out what all exactly got updated.

Ok full changelog for Silent Hill 4 on GOG for August 2021:

"Added full support for many popular controllers (including Sony Dualsense, Sony Dualshock 4, Sony dualshock 3, Microsoft Xbox Series X/S, Microsoft Xbox One X/S, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch Pro. Optimized default key binding. Fixed trigger buttons not working properly. Fixed right analog stick not working properly."

Maybe one day they'll add in the missing hauntings lol

Minor but Important Change: IGT Must Be Shown on PC Runs

Going forward we will be requiring a visible IGT timer on submissions on the PC version, preferably using the LiveSplit script. Most people already do this, but we're making it mandatory to make run verification easier. Thank you for your understanding.

Runs submitted prior to this change will no
