To be brief: The Wii, 3DS and Wii U version are all the same game with slightly different graphics, same game, same layouts of the levels etc. But the DS version is vastly different in both character movesets and level layouts, making it uncomparable to for example the Wii version. For example, Arcee's aerial melee is essentially a rocketboost forward, you go so far with it, it's absurd. And then for different layouts, in the Wii version you chase Arachnid(the helicopter) up to a certain point, where a cutscene triggers and the level ends. In the DS version you have to jump over obstacles and contantly shoot Arachnid until you actually defeat her, there is no distance trigger. Also some bossfights go very differently, attacks that are exclusive to the DS version are not present in others, for example the big purple wall that Arachnid attacks you with in the second bossfight is missing. The versions are vastly different, so they should be in different categories. I know nobody is running the game but it still makes me upset that they aren't seperated. If you want video proof of the differences I will edit this and provide links.
Totally on board with splitting them, but the DS version would need a run first to exist. For now we can change the platforms of this one?
I guess I could do a run with a DS emulator. Actually I already got the emulator and the game, gonna do that tomorrow or something. But what do you mean with changing platforms?
I mean, the way you're putting it is that these are effectively two games:
- Transformers: Prime - The Game
- Transformers: Prime - The Game (DS)
The same way that there are two games for Sonic Colors and Sonic Colors (DS), for the same reason. I agree with you! So OK -- let's live in that world. But we don't have to create the game called Transformers: Prime - The Game (DS) to live in that world. We can just change the officially listed platforms for Transformers Prime - The Game (underneath the box art, and a dropdown when submitting a run) from "WiiU, DS, 3DS, Wii" to "WiiU, 3DS, Wii".
The other game, if and when it gets a run, should be called Transformers Prime - The Game (DS), and its only platform listed beneath the box art and during run submissions should be DS.
Even if no one ever runs that game and therefore it never gets created on speedrun.com, we can still represent this game correctly by changing its platforms to reflect that the DS game is not included.
Does that sound good to you? If so I'm happy to make the change.
