RT and IGT subcategories

Hello! How about creating two separate subcategories for each main category that would differ in the way of estimating the final result of the run?

What I'm talking about is to differ runs by the real time of the run (RT) and their in-game times (IGT). By that we would have i.e. two separate leaderboards for Any% that would include times of the runs based either on RT or IGT.

This idea came up to my mind after seeing how this distinction between RT and IGT makes some runs simply look weird on the leaderboard. I'm talking about situations in which a run with worse IGT (by several seconds) was placed way higher than slightly worse or slightly higher than way better runs, simply because the RT indicator was more favorable in its case.

Personally, I think there's no place for RT in the any% category. IGT is much more accurate and shows the skill at a level, RT is dependent on fps, load times, etc which are dependent on the phone or emulator used.

Also 1 leaderboard for each timing method isn't a really great idea imo, it's kinda weird tbh. I've never seen any game do that and there's no real need to anyway.

You are right, guys. If II were to pick one solution I would choose staying with IGT timing method, since as @Lightum1 said it is more precise and shows the real skill of a runner instead of basing one's time on loading time or frames per second that might differ depending on what kind of mobile phone or emulator was used.

In fact this was the reason I decided to create this thread. It felt so weird to see better IGT times being lower than some worse ones simply because of small differences in RT, despite having quite a precise timer in the game already.

@Mike_Santiago, aye, it would look awkward, but I wrote it in case we had a significant amount of fans of using RT method on the leaderboards. By having two subcategories for IGT and RT both sides would've been satisfied, as for they would have a category dedicated for their preferred timing method.

IGT isn't very accurate as it gets influenced by lag. Lag influences IGT for the better, saving time that would be significant enough. So laggier devices would have an advantage over less laggy devices. That would probably be corrected by optimizations being done in the game, since it makes no sense to me that I can play PSP at 60fps but this game lags a ton. So maybe in that case, IGT leaderboards would be more viable and fair.

RT gets influenced by lag as much as IGT does, there's no difference. If the game lags it still makes a difference in RT.

I mean the current RT runs aren't that great and if it's going to stay (which is a shame because the pause glitch takes skill to master) there's nothing left to do but to take the record.

If the game laggs, you get impossible ingame times, impossible to beat and almost 30s faster than rta runs, that's why we can't and won't change that.

It's different to affect the IGT to get impossible times, and slowing down RTA because of the lag.

If there's no way to avoid the consequences of lag, you either ban lagged runs completely (which is awful) or you go to the less unfair solution, which would be using RTA since it doesn't create impossible times.
