Here's a weird one: We had/created a series for specific kind of games linked to a base game, so took a while to link all of them to this series. Then the moderators of the base game wanted to have the series combined so that was another process on its won. But then, there was this one guy, who wanted to link them in an even different way based on if it's part of the same universe or not. This created a lot of work for SRC moderators and it was a very confusing time for everyone.

There were some other problems with this guy as well: There's a leaderboard I moderate with dozens of runs and runners, and the other guy who wanted to re-organize those series again asked if it was a good idea to re-time all of the runs based on the ending of the run. After discussing this with the other mods we told him no, the runs are good the way they are. I guess saying no wasn't good enough, because he decided to re-time them anyway despite not being the leading moderator lol. We scolded him for that and he offered to re-time them all back again himself.

Then when he stopped running, a few weeks after, for some reason he decided to remove all his runs from the site. I asked him why and he just said that simply cuz he stopped speedrunning. ~1-2 years after, his friend did the same. I can't get behind that thought process.

@jackzfiml I'd say it's premature to call that a splice since the cursor position, LiveSplit timer, and Windows clock show no sign of manipulation. Additionally, the Play button (and not the Menu button) is pressed down as if it were being held down.

Also, I was able to replicate this behavior. The game consistently switches to the next level if the Play button is held and released, regardless of where the cursor is when it is released.

In short, this run is valid. Please be more thorough in your investigations next time. If you do suspect a splice, you can discuss what happened with the runner, who might be able to explain. If the runner did cheat, you could ban them from the leaderboard and/or the site, though this is really up to the moderators of your community.

"Just got something else to add to this that didn’t seem to be mentioned here already, I moderate a game with a LOT of categories (several hundred at least)."

Maybe that's the problem.

Thanks for reminding me of this thread, I have a story to tell

About 2 months ago I did a run of the first level of some random mobile game at like 5 am. I submitted it, went to bed, it got verified the next day, didn't think about it much afterwards. However about a week later I get a notification saying the run was rejected with the reason saying something along the lines of "wow did you just rickroll me". This surprised me because I didn't edit the run to include a rickroll and it didn't include a rickroll in the first submission. I went to check the run and saw that the video had changed to show the beginning of a speedrun of the level (which wasn't even my run) and then cuts to a rickroll. It was also uploaded on a channel I don't own. I quickly edited the run so no one would think I actually submitted a rickroll and talked with site staff. The board has two mods so here's what my theory is, one mod edited the run to include the video of that rickroll and either put it in the queue or left it on the board and the other mod found it in the queue or on the board and rejected it. I know the guy who rejected the run wasn't the same mod who edited the run because of what site staff said was in the audit logs. Still have no clue why it happened, but I think it's a funny story.

Technically isn't a story of me moderating a game but I think it relates

@TRLittleToaster. Yes I remember that. @AaroonActual is the moderator that Rick rolled you. He is also my real life friend. He thought it would be funny to rickroll me because since he is a verifier, for some reason he can’t verify his own runs he submits. So he knew he would Rick roll me. I looked at the video and said what I said not thinking much about it. Then I saw that you submitted your original run and realized that something happened to your run. I had no idea what happened. Until maybe a day or two later, he told me that he did the Rick roll.

Had someone spamming tons of Geometry Dash Meltdown runs a few months ago. They kept spamming runs where they removed load times and claimed WR (we don't do loadless timing on our board). They then later started submitting fake runs where the loads are either sped up, or removed. Then they contacted me, asking me to add loadless timing. I told them no and to stop spamming runs. They eventually gave up.

Why I haven't reported to site staff, I'll never know and it's probably too late to do that anyway.

While I was a mod at Google Minesweeper, I've rejected at least 5 "world record" runs of people just dying in less than a second.

@act7 I knew that that didnt look like something that toaster would do. There havent been many crazy things while I was moderating but I have seen many stupid cheaters. Recently I rejected someone’s runs saying “its clearly spliced” and while I waited for the ban he deleted his runs and submitted runs where he spliced the same way as before. it was stupid
