Not only did you not ask in the game's forum, you didn't even say what the game is :P So how are we to know? But yes, ask in the game's specific forum (or Discord, if it has one, many do).

Just a general note: lag is part of many retro games and lag reduction is often a crucial part of the speedrun strategies. Emulators that don't emulate lag properly (or not at all) are usually not allowed for speedrunning. Well-known examples are ZSNES or Snes9X v1.41 for SNES or VBA and all its derivates for Game Boy. Especially if a speedrun is measured in realtime, an emulator should be as accurate to the console as possible, including framerate, load times and lag.

^ This. When you hear people talk about inaccurate emulation, odds are good what they're talking about is a lack of lag. It's not something to be exploited, but rather something to be avoided.
