So yesterday i bought Dishonored, re-learned all the tricks for any% and downgraded to patch 1.2, everything went solid troughout the any% route. Than i got to the Lady Boyle mission and if i try to QS/QL in the painting room, the painting doesn't change at all (i tried it like 15 times in a row WutFace ) Now did i miss out on something or is it bugged?

Hey Sky!

There's a couple of things about the save-scumming strat you need to know.

First there's an auto-save as you just enter which means you can't quicksave just as you enter but have to wait slightly to do the save, however that's not a problem for you as you obviously got the save.

Second is that you need to save early enough so the paiting doesn't change before the save. Approximately 2 seconds after you enter the mansion the painting RNG is decided and the way the save-scumming works is that you need to save before that point so you can reload the save and let the painting RNG get decided again, this way you can reload to eventually get the painting in the correct room.

Also, the 15 times you tried in a row, is that from the same save or did you try it 15 times to save and reload when entering the mansion?

I will try instantly quick-saving (so its as early as possible). And i tried both those ways.

For some reason the painting also didn't switch after re-entering the room like 4 times with quicksaving/loading.

I will be doing more research and head back!

Ok, so I went and checked your last vod on twitch to see if I could spot anything and I'll try to explain how the thing works.

When we say that the RNG is set ~2seconds after entering the mansion/room that only means the FIRST time you enter it during the mission. If you leave the mansion and re-enter it it will not matter since the RNG is already set for the mission at that point.

So what you want to do is to reload the mission and then you can make a practice save just outside the door before entering it the first time.

To see that it actually works then you can enter the mansion and without doing anything else, just look towards the painting. It should be golden at the start and after a second or two it should either switch to the dull painting of a soldier or it should stay with the golden portrait of the lord regent.

If this doesn't work I could try to drop by the next time you stream and see if you're doing everything the right way.

Okay so i got it to work, seems like i have to instantly make a QS as soon as i enter the room switching over from a shitty laptop to a high-end desktop seems to load rooms faster :P Still thanks for the replies!
