i think it can but i also think it cant anybody have any strats that could lower the time? ¯_(ツ)_/¯

If it can go lower, it feels like it would need to be a new strategy rather than small optimizations :/ I don't know a ton about propeller tech so maybe there's something out there. Here's what I'm trying to optimize, although I haven't actually timed these out against other strategies so they could potentially be slower:

  • At the start, having Mario grab the propeller as high in the air as possible. I'm aiming to jump in the middle of the fourth brick after the starting platform. When I pull it off, it looks like the propeller mushroom collides with Mario's foot
  • Dropping down onto the next platform ASAP. I don't know how much time that potentially saves over just holding right and letting Mario fall at his own pace, but it definitely feels faster (maybe just because it means you get to do something :P )
  • I do a completely different strategy for the middle part and I have no idea if it's faster or slower. Rather than damaging on the boo to lose the propeller suit before the stairs, I avoid that boo and use the propeller to go up the stairs section without slowing down. At the top of the stairs I'm moving slower as the suit descends, and there I damage into the boo on that hallway
  • Just after the coin block I jump with the goal being to have Mario at a higher falling speed going into the elevator part. Again, not sure how much this actually helps - for it to have a chance Mario has to cut the corner super close
  • At the bottom of the elevator, cut the last corner as close as possible. I think keeping Mario on the left of the elevator until you can hold right and not bonk could also help Mario reach top speed to the right sooner, but there's not much room to do that
  • The last part is the forward conveyor belt right before the second-to-last chain chomp. Goal would be to land on it as far to the left as possible and ride it for as long as possible without bonking. I bounce off of the dry bones to get a sharper angle of descent to try to land on it sooner and then jump after damaging into the chain chomp. I then try to twirl in air to keep that momentum as many times as possible (which for me is like 2). I think you could try to get a frame perfect jump off the ground to keep that momentum longer, but I haven't been going for that

Even with all of that, I don't think I'm close to the next second boundary, so not sure those strats are enough to do it. I recorded my video for the level tonight and just submitted it for verification, so hopefully it will show up soon (shoutout to Polonxy for the super fast turnarounds on verifications - you're awesome!) but in the meantime here's the link to the YouTube video for reference:

Would love to hear what other people are trying here as well :)

Im really not sure, I have looked for a while now and can find nothing, all I can think of is minimising propeller time, and im working on some method to triple jump to skip some of the jumps after the blue platforms However I just realised how fast you can go using the conveyor , thats the way to go

100-Man Finale event and server shutdowns

If you haven't already heard, the servers supporting Mario Maker 1 and other 3DS/Wii U games will be shutting down on Monday, April 8th. To send the 100-man category out with a bang, we're doing a small event in the discord where we've been counting down each day with a different difficulty level. S
