Automation Only Speedrun

I prupose the idea for only using automation and the mimimum required amount of hand crafting possible.

This would be an addon to the current rules.

Once the ability to smelt or craft has been unlocked you are no longer allowed hand smelt or craft anymore. ( If hand crafting of every single resouces to unlock all of tier 0 has been done before unlocking that is acceptable, but anything after tier 0 must be made via automation)

If power runs out and you have no way to turn it back on you may hand craft materials, however unless there is already biomass ready you must use base materials (leaves, trees, and flowers)

I think the save rule is ok to stop there, due to the time lost however if the admins/gms rules this not in the favor of the "automation" ruling then the following caviat should be added.

Once power has been restored, and the base problem fixed, the bio fuel generator and any materials hand made must be disconnected and/or trashed from the power grid and never used again in the playthrough.

What does everyone think? Would this be a cool speedrun to add?

I'm not really a fan of the whole concept here, but am intrigued by a variant that someone else said in another post (I believe). I would be interested in an Awesomeless run that would force runners to craft everything instead of just buying in bulk.

I feel like the rules suggested are a lot to deal with and kind of feel cumbersome. Not to mention with such a small running community, I think it makes more sense to keep our rules/categories small for now and to build up the community first.

As it stands, there are 14 runners for Package%, 1 for 2Package% and a handful for multiplayer.

I 100% understand what your saying, I just can't find any fun in hand crafting simulator. Because that's primarily what it turns to become for this game I feel like its more interesting to try and expand asap to get far idk maybe its a more vaiable start for 100% runs.

Couldn't you ACTUALLY do benchless if you do quickstart? I feel like benchless awesomeless would actually be a decent category.

I think conditional rules that change mid-game make the run hard to judge and add weird and unnecessary bits of complexity. "The minimum amount of handcrafting" is an incredibly vague statement that can be interpreted a few different ways. If you provide an actual upper limit, you're essentially designing the path of the run for the runner.

I appreciate the sentiment of your idea, though. Maybe what you're looking for isn't a speed run, but an efficient run -- quick, see if www.efficientrun.com is an available domain! Your categories could include things like "run completed with the least handcrafted materials" or "run completed with the least amount of wasted iron ore mined," etc.
