Video proof

Given how competitive and optimised the top times are, especially in grass dungeon, is it worth making video proof mandatory for top ten times going forward (but not affecting existing runs on the leaderboard)?

Id say so. Photoshopping a time cant be too hard anyways

Didn't see these messages, I find it actually long and hard to just record and stop and record and stop and so on when you're running... In my opinion, if someone wants to photoshop a time that's useless, that's not the aim of speedrunning. But when times are suspect maybe I, as a mod, will ask a suspect time for further proofs like the ways used or a similar run to get convinced ^^

But it's difficult to ask that for every time. I'll maybe do that for top 3 runs ^^ To Gyrule and me, i have the IRL proof that the run has been done. Or maybe we could like ask for a "photo of the screen in which there's the pb time" which is for sure a lot harder to photoshop... Yeah that's at least better

Or we could ask a video of the final time screen, a video is harder to photoshop too

If it helps, when I am grinding short runs i don't stop and start the screen recorder for each attempt, instead I record the whole session (perhaps stopping and starting the recorder every ten minutes or so to keep file sizes manageable), and when I PB I just stop the recording and trim off the relevant part of the video. The native video editor on most phones makes this easy, and there are lots of third party apps which do the same job.

I don't think a photo or video of the end screen will be a big improvement on the proof standard as one can display a photoshopped screenshot on their screen and video / photo it. Indeed it would be more difficult to spot image inconsistencies that way.

Note: I have no doubt at all in the legitimacy of the recent top times. The issue for me is more that I really like to be able to watch these massively impressive runs to appreciate them.

For those needing it mobizen is pretty good for android and the normal iOS screen recorder I find to be pretty good.

Yeah, in my case it's just I am too lazy to stop start recording and so on but I'd be so happy to have recordings x( I only have like 200Mo of free space in my phone that's what's also preventing me from doing so. But drgrumble if you want I can record a session in which I do my best ways with possible fails to give an idea, but when I'm running I don't feel like wasting such time by managing my files. I should do it tho
