Want to SR a game but no way to record

So I've been wanting to do a run for Specter of Torment but the only platforms I have it on are Wii U and 3DS which makes for pretty awful recording conditions. I know most games require video evidence so what's recommended in this situation?

WiiU is relatively easy to capture, all you need is a HDMI capture card.

3DS is awful, yeh capture cards for it are far too much.

You could just record the screen of the 3ds/ wiiU. Ive done this with 3ds before to varying levels of success. But yeh, recording isn't very bad an issue if you can record on wiiU

Yeah the only thing that sucks about capture cards is how expensive they are. I get it, you get what you pay for it's just that I can't.

You can get a decent hdmi cap card for under £100.

Seriously, recording a screen with a webcam is fine for proof. Often games will allow your times without proof, unless it's a very good time. Proof is always preferred, however.

If you have a new 3DS, you could look into getting CFW and recording your screen by streaming the screens to your PC using NTR.

You can get a GV-USB2 for about $40. I don't believe you need to, but you can also get an AV to HDMI converter for $10 or so. Make sure you do your research, but that'll do the trick for a Wii U.

Just keep in mind, the quality won't be as fantastic as you aren't using an HD capture card.

About NTR, always ask whether its OK to use first. Some 3DS games don't accept it.

I might look into the GV-USB2, thanks for the help guys

yeah pokemon ultra sun and moon don't accept NTR as an example :) but it is normally in the rules

unless they have proven that NTR messes with the game directly or as a byproduct, there's pretty much no reason to "ban" it since it uses the free power of the console to run the software, which is why capturing games like Xenoblade Chronicles 3D & any SNESVC doesn't work with it - no free power to use. My guess is they fear people would use it to cheat? which is a pretty bland tbh...

I don't really know why they ban it either, but we can't do anything about that. The point is they do, so always get the green light before doing it.

NTR messes with some (probably a lot more than some) game's accuracy in that it can visibly speed up loads, sometimes knocking off several minutes in an any% run (kirby: triple deluxe is an example)

If you’re just recording your screen I highly reccommend to make the room as dark as possible and have the brightness up
