Your overall vision in the nether is what these packs can pose an advantage with. Others will have to look at a very foggy and dotty screen whereas with the pack you get a clear screen, meaning you can see stuff better. So yeah, that is the advantage you get. I wouldn't use it if I were you.

why texture packs just run the game vanilla
