Stats in a game say nothing about your character, trustworthiness, reliability, honesty, etc. All attributes that are very important in an effective moderator, because a moderator is more than someone who verifies runs. When you're a moderator, you're a representative for your community. You are who outsiders see as being 'in control' and making the decisions, and people look to you for advice and consultation on any issues pertaining to the game. Just because you can go fast in the game doesn't mean you're good at doing any of that, or dealing with people. If someone wanted mod in any of the games I moderate and simply cited their times saying "Look how good I am" my immediate response would be "This tells me nothing about whether you'd be a good moderator."
Moreover, far too many people see having mod as some sort of privilege or status symbol, and this is a toxic mentality to have. Mod is a RESPONSIBILITY, and should be treated with the appropriate respect. Now, all the cases in this thread of games that are totally dead with one inactive moderator, and someone wants to take over the reins? Sure, that's reasonable, there needs to be SOMEONE for the job. But when there already is someone, you need to actually bring something to the table, and far too many people make it apparent that they feel entitled to the position or can otherwise just ask for it and expect it to fall into their lap. Hell, I've been asked to take over moderation duties in other games and actively declined, because I don't want the responsibility and know I wouldn't treat the games in question with the respect they deserve.
tl;dr being a good runner =/= being a good moderator, and people are often way too flippant about what it actually means to assume the role.
@Racingmonster I have a discord, but I use it for zombie runs. I haven't really joined the world at war one because it didn't seem I was welcomed there even know I am keeping the runs on that game alive but whatever. I also agree with you.
Drako obviously you need to be trustworthy etc, but the main people running the game should usually be mod if they're capable of it.... they know the game more than anyone else. Racing explained it all to you.
Also I don't see anyone being arrogant about their runs....... if they say they are running the game and they want to be mod because the current mods aren't very active then they should be given mod.
@Weekenders if a game has 10+ very active runners(and they are capable of doing mod duty) then everybody should be mod?
@Deln yes if they want to be and they're trustworthy We have more than a few zombie mods and they welcomed sean and I in when we wanted to be mod. It seems like the other sides of this website seem to be very closed off though when this community should be open arms. If a mod is inactive for months and we cant contact them then we unmod them. It's not that difficult.

The mod for How Does Into Game is pulling some shady stuff.
He submitted a WR without video evidence (5 months after my WR run, which had video evidence).
I made a forum thread asking if this was allowed (http://www.speedrun.com/The_Site/thread/d7fl4) and someone posted a run (WR, without video evidence, it has since been removed by the person) just to see how the Mod would react. The run was accepted, then not much later (According to my email, just under an hour) the Mod added another WR run, again without video evidence.
This is very shady, and as others stated in the thread linked, he shouldn't be repetitively adding WR runs without any proof, as a Mod. I'd like to request that he be removed and someone more fit to moderate the game be replaced (I don't care if it's me or someone else; just someone who is fair).
Eddiecatgaming, you abuse this thread way too much. Every request you make here is to become a mod for a very popular game with very active mods - you've been told repeatedly this is not the point of this thread.
If you want to be mod on a game like that, you should ask the moderators if they need help first because they are all extremely active on this site (as they have always been with your requests). Given their activeness, I doubt they'll need another mod, but you cannot circumvent them by trying to avoid asking them and just coming here.

Not to mention one of the ones who was active recently is a super mod, so you should be asking them if they need moderation help and they can add you if they need it.
Christ if you don't even know how to distinguish Super Mods then you REALLY need to lurk more and spend more time familiarising yourself with the site before attempting to grab power.

ive been running that board for almost a year practically by myself remodelled it twice and keeping it fresh so that it interests new runners. I currently have Mod status tho as i have put so much effort into making it into what it is id like to be able to have full control.

I would like to be mod for Galaxian and Pac-Man Arrangement.
The super mod for both of these games has been inactive for a month (There's also no way to contact him) and the other mod for Pac-Man Arrangement wants to add me as mod but isn't able to.
